Exclamation Nor Cal, We NEED you, ASAP

Aug 16 there will be a great many boats on the Sacramento River protesting proposed legislation regarding the Sacramento Delta. Please read the following:

    Million Boat protest

Please be one of the million boats protesting. Our lakes are dry due to the siphoning off of OUR water to feed the L.A. area. Also, see another link at the bottom of this article.

All I can tell you is what I posted. Click on the MILLION BOAT PROTEST, it's a link to part of the story. If I find out more I'll post here. I'm tired of us being rationed on water while So. Cal. drains more and more off our lakes and rivers.

So what exactly are they protesting ? unknown potential environmental effects.
    Or

Isolating freshwater in a canal would prevent the pumps from killing fish, and would protect the water from floods and earthquakes,

I think that a lot of the water that is diverted towards L.A, Is diverted to the San joaquin valley to water the crops that help feed America.

It's not defining what they wish to protest.

I think that a protest of this magnitude should constitute a definitive reason for the protest.

This sounds like a rerun. I think it's the fact that they are draining OUR water supply to feed L.A. There are some very large pumping tubes that go over the mountains down there. Didn't you read the article?

Good call on the rerun...I could be wrong....But don't they get water from arrow head, Big bear, and the Colorado.

I still think they shall define the reason for the protest a little better.

I was just getting the information from the USCG AUX for support. They do get water from those places and want ours as well as Oregon's and Washington's water supply.

You know Greg, I just think we all need to be careful, And do a lot of research on issues, What is told to the public anymore by these bureaucrats, And environmentalists is not always the truth of the matter. Alot of these special groups just see things in one way,..... Theirs......And they will fight and fight to get their way.

First they complain about the fish will die, (SMELT) Then when it seems they find a way to prevent the death of (SMELT) then they change to another reason to which it will fit in their mentality of how they think things should be done. They are one sided and have never had an open mind on issues.

I for one am tired of these actions from all environmentalist groups, they damage more of this country than help it. This is J.M.O

I know I'm just tired of seeing our water stolen to feed the golf courses and pools of So. Cal. and if it take the wacko envirnmentalists to stop the water grab, so be it. This sort of project has been voted down several times. I say split the state and let S.F to L.A. fend for themselves.

    Sounds good to me.

I do think that they are wanting to do some testing on floor of the delta for dredging so they can try and get these container ships into the sac. harbor.

They are claiming it will cost less for transporting of the containers out of sac. instead of Oakland and S.F. Plus lighten up the traffic congestion on the bay area freeways. And that in it's self should bring a whole new can of worms to be open.

They need this port opened up for shipping again. It's a costly operation to not have something going on there. They use to dredg the river all the time. This state is so screwed up anyway.

I laugh everytime I see someone post how its OUR water!! LOL So the water belongs to only one part of the state right? Oh and the water up here isnt used to water golf courses or lawns? Heck I live were its 110-115 deg and you'll never see more green lawns and full swimming pools. So since the water comes out of the mountains up here its ok to use it anyway we want? Just asking. You'll also never see more water go to waste than i've seen up here imo.

Well, it's one thing where we have 2 rivers flowing through town and have to ration while I've seen the water running down the street from sprinklers while it's raining, in the So. Cal area. I see farm land being turned into subdivisions because the state rations water to farmers, but the new homes are allowed to keep their lawns green and pools full. You can't eat the lawn. Which do you think wastes more water? I see an open canal shipping our Nor. Cal. water to So. Cal. with an evaporation rate of up to 50% and that may be on the low side.

I think, rather than shipping Nor. Cal. water south in a new $10 BILLION tube, they spend that money to build desalination stations in So. Cal. I would venture to say that the loss of water and the upkeep of the canal would more than cover the cost of those stations.
