    Default No water question

Ok so I bought this Formula with 115 hours on it. It has a Mercruiser 454 and has sat for a couple of years. Previous owner properly drained water ect. I put the ears on the outdrive and put the water to it. I have no water in the exhaust and the sea pump doesn't seem to be sucking. What is the proper procedure to get water into it? I am assuming that there is a thermostat somewhere and I am just doing something wrong. Thanks in advance David

    Two things..

One, have you changed the sea water pump impeller?

Are you sure they are still using the outdrive water inlet? (have seen it where people add a thru-hull water intake)..

    Good luck.

Impeller probably came apart. If it did, now you have the task of recovering all the pieces. Most if them will be clogging up the power steering heat exchanger.
As far as the thermostat goes, it only controls how much water goes into the block and heads. Any extra diverts to the exhaust manifolds. So if it was stuck closed, all the water would still be pumping out the manifolds.
