    Default What do I have?

Hi there...I'm over visiting from the v-drive section and I'm trying to figure out what this part is and if I can use to in my project. So far all I know is that it is a kiekhaefer/aeromarine bell housing and some sort of crash box with forward/neutral/reverse

Friend of mine purchased a 20 ft spectra v-drive cruiser with a blown BBC and this was behind it. When on a test drive, the previous owner shifted the boat into and out of gear with this (engine running). Is this ok to do?

Long story short I bought the gearbox and dampening plate and was wanting to replace the powerglide in my cruiser with this to save some interior room and weight. The only catch is that I need to be able to shift this with the engine running....I've tried looking on the internet and haven't had much luck. Please help!

    Thanks

    Default It's an FnR box

It's like a velvet drive F(forward) n(neutral) R(reverse) box and yes you shift it while its running mind you not at speed but at idle you'll have no problem shifting it. Buddy has the same one in his blown Spectra I can't remember the name of it champion or something like that.
If your stupid you'd better be tuff!

More pics and angles, almost looks like a modded transfer case. My velvet looks different

By the looks of the logo casted on the bell housing it appears to be a Kiekhaefer or early Mercruiser unit that has been polished. Kiekhaefer did build a lot of offshore race stuff under Kiekhaefer Aero Marine. Is it a direct drive or a gear reduction? You might post some pictures on Offshore.com someone over there may have a little more info. If I remember right Merc had a copy of a velvet drive which this is not. I believe they also used a Paragon copy which this may be.
