How often should the drive oil be changed? I was told it should be changed every 50 hours.

    Default oil change

I worked in a marina in Spokane Wa.
what we would told our customers to do is have us
change the outdrive oil in bravo's at the end of each season
but I know down here you can use the boat year around
and if it was me I would change every 6 months if there is a lot of hours on it
also I would replace the water pump impeller every other year
because the material they are made of they only last about 2 or 3 years
and it is cheap insurance to do
that way you will not have a heating problem

Just started my FOURTH season on TORCO RTF in the drive. Sent a sample each season to Blackstone and basically they said it was very comparable to brand-new. That stuff is magical. It's essentially a 30w oil that REPLACES 75-90 gear lube in transmission/gearcase use. So, you free up HP by not spinning such a thick oil, but get the benefits of a GL-6 lube. Look up the (now non-existent) GL-6 specs and you'll see why I trust it and why it lasts so long. Recommended for marine outdrive units as well (read all of the paragraphs). So, armed with that info, I'll probably change it every FIFTH season - ish.
