So I came across this at a friend's boat shop, said he's been sitting on it for a looonnnggg time. Was going to be just used for a mold to make more.
Looks alot worse then it is needs some crack repairs from sitting but in all the structure is solid. Anyways to the point-
Engine- I as thinking about using a 5.3 from a Chevy with the msd ignition and carb set up along with a better cam and valve train. Is this a good set up and what have others done to make a good set up?
Will the stock engine be ok at all sitting at 6k for any amount of time or with a forged crank rod and pistons be needed?
Carb- is a 650 plenty or do I need to be looking more in the 700-750 range?
Low intake manifold or high ram and scoop?
Drive system- my buddy is suggesting i use a bravo 1 sterndrive as it is a usable system and not so hotrodish like a direct drive or dual outboards, along with its rated for 600hp.
How do I go about mounting this unit to and LS block?
Is there a "conversion" kit?
I'm sure I will come across more things to ask but that is all I have for now. I'm just getting the information side of this build so I know which direction to go and how to go about it.
