    Default O m c.

There were 3 styles of the transom seals. Round , square & square with rounded corners. Make sure that the engine mounting points are solid. The seal can be replaced without removing the out drive, you just have to use detergent or alcohol to slide it over the drive. There is a place in Seattle that has some nos parts. If you really like the boat I strongly recommend a complete re power. Most of the important parts are nla. I was an O M C dealer from 72-03, Good luck

Some aftermarket companies (like Sierra) make the OMC Transom seal. Google it.

My brother serviced OMCs for a while, and the trick they used was to warm the rubber seal up in a pan of hot water so it was more pliable. I assume that combined with soap would help slip it on over the drive.

I am nursing along a 1969 stringer drive as well, just praying nothing major breaks. So far I have been able to find parts, either after market or used.

    Good luck.
