Down under we call em KT boats. They are THE best raceboat! The photo below shows me driving at Windsor NSW. 140 mph with the butterflies only 1/4 open Matt Ferris @ TEAM TATTOO 666
Na mate, circle boat racers. That photo is a one off drag between TATTOO and STIR EM UP which is a B.A.D. boat. My best top speed is 188 mph. Thanks Matt 666

440 ci bbc 10/71 Kuhl teflon blower on alky 1200 hp. ssm 2 drive with clever 3 blade prop. Different gears and blades for big or small track racing. Thanks Matt 666
Awesome, awesome rig Matt! )THumbsUp Do you realize what a stir your boat has caused on these forums? bulb I think people here are getting it that your rig is superior to anything we have here in the States for short course circle racing. Have you ever thought of trying a current SSM VI drive? I would guess that the benefits of the dual vertical shafts, dry sump and swept skeg would lend themselves well to your rig. However, would the additional weight throw off the cg of your setup? BTW, I saw a picture of your boat with a non-supercharged, dual carb engine in it. What horsepower was that, how fast does the boat run with it and what was the reason for that setup? I hope you don't mind all the questions, but I'm really intrigued by your boat. I wish they would create a class for that boat here......I'd build one!
The boat has a LS7 tunnel ram engine @ about 650 hp for river racing. We have two here on the Hawkesbury River, one 20 miles and the other about 70 miles. We are planning to build a bigger KT boat with composite constuction, ssm V1 drive and a turbine. We really want to have a go at your Unlimited Hydro boys to see good we really are! Matt @ Team Tattoo 666
Sounds awesome! Please keep us posted. If you need any help with turbine stuff, let me know. I'm good friends with Howard Arneson and Rik Wimp over at Arneson Industries - I'll hook you up with them. They've been doing turbine stuff longer than anybody and have a ton of knowledge and connections. I've already discussed your Tattoo boat with them. Howard's current 46' Skater has a single 4,500 horsepower turbine in it......... pretty impressive ride to say the least! And you may want to also talk to them, or other guys currently running turbine boats, as they are mostly all running Arneson or BPM drives (Arneson copies) with rudders. The ssm VI drive is a great drive up to about 1,200 horsepower, but they do fail regularly with turbines in front of them. I do understand the need for a vertical shaft type drive with a true tunnel, but you may want to get some feedback first before going for it. One of Arneson's customers, Craig Frost, bought a used 46' Skater with turbines and ssm VI drives out of Canada (former My Way boat) and runs it quite a bit from what I hear. You may want to talk to him and see how the drives have held up? Any way you go, good luck! And I can't wait to see how it runs. The last shot at the unlimiteds with a tunnel was back in the 70's or early 80's I believe. It had 8 Mercury outboard motors mounted inboard, spinning two outdrives and never really worked out. The turbine thing is MUCH better.......
