    Default external steering

Looking at single ram vs double or full hydraulic, $1300 + 300 install for single. What are the pros and cons?

What power and speeds are you seeing, or going to see?

When I was building my Ultra, JW told me anything over 75 is when you should consider adding external steering.

For safety, this is one thing (full hydraulic single) I might add next winter.

The double ram is a balanced system and the single is a unbalanced system. This matters to the helm you might use, call Lathem steering first to make sure you dont end up with problems. The balance problem is the amount of fluid it takes to open a ram is more than to close the ram and with two rams it will balance out. I found this out the hard way with a single side mount ram on a single engine outboard. most helms and power assited unit need to have equal flow in and out.Hope this helps but call the Experts!

Currently engine hp is 525 and I'm right on the 75 mph mark, But I intend to do some work to the back end, probably add an imco lower and lab the prop I should be closer to 80. That said, this is not the way I drive the boat .I'm usually around 65-70

    Thumbs up Warlock Performance Marine

These guys installed an integrated single ram for a very good price. The craftsmanship was great. I looked around and found their semi-custom to be the best bargain and quality combination.

Sounds like a good idea, but I live in nor-cal. We are void of custom boat building here, so I will most likely sticking with the mfg stuff.
