    I have just purchased a daytona 25' and i took it to the lake for the first time the other weekend.
    when i try and put it in gear it wants to die, I have a blown 555 and a bravo 1 xr. my idle is right around 650 rpm, Im pretty sure that is to low. my question is if I raise the idle rpms should that fix my problem of the boat trying to die when I go to put in gear.

    That idle is too low. The problem is you do not want to shift a Bravo any higher than 850 or you stand a good chance of sticking the cone clutch into the gear. The trick with a supercharged engine is to have someone knowledgeable with blown engines adjust the idle so it surges just a little from about 700 to 1000. To do that it will take adjusting the idle mixture screws a little on the rich side (which is what it will want after it is shifted and idling in gear anyway). Shift it as the rpm's are approaching the BOTTOM of the downward swing and it will shift like butter and not damage the drive. It will take some patience and planning when docking, but you shouldn't be in a hurry when docking anyway.

    I would only try to raise it to about 900rpm's, max, and catch it on the low side of the surge only. If it surges between 800-1100 then catch it on the 800 side, It should regather itself and idle. Or you can put it in gear and set the idle as low as you feel comfortable then pull it out of gear and see where the motor sits and adjust from there. The motor itself is likley struggling to stay running at that low of rpm (650) with the cam and combo you have and when put into gear and it loads the motor it will not recover from the initial load and die unless you feather the throttle to keep it alive.

    Ok try this.....rev the sumbitch up ta 6 grand and slam it into gear! I seen it in a movie once...

    Glad you finally posted bro. Cant wait to tear up AZ with it this summer!
