Well winter is fast approaching and I made it through the summer with my rough paint on my jet boat. It was going to get repainted mid July but I seized the motor at Elsinore and tore up the bottom end of the engine. SO, now that winter is here and the boat budget is back in the green area I would like to get new paint on it.
My boat has a nice paint job but it is obvious that the clear or gel coat has completely left leaving a even coat of the glittery bone dry paint under neath. I would like to somehow save the paint if there was an easy painless way to do so.
But if I cannot save it I am just going to keep it one color and do a nice solid white. My main question is can I primer, paint, finish coat and then clear coat the hull?
Any input is appreciated. I am trying to steer away from having to gel coat it, I will be happy with the clear coat, I do not plan on keeping the boat for much more than the next 2 years, til I move onto a better hull.
