Default looking to buy Gale Banks turbo setup

I'm looking at buying this setup and had a few questions. what's the low down on a setup like this? what's a good price for this one? what can a guy expect out of one on a mild bbc? looking to keep it under the hood on a sleekcraft aristocrat. thanks in advance.

If you want to keep it under the hatch, definitely look for the water cooled turbo exhaust houses as seen in the photos you posted. Many did not have those. The bypass hole in the turbo exhaust housing controls maximum boost, but also will make it "soft" on the bottom end. Keep in mind also that the original 301E1.0 Rajay turbos were selected for a 454 cubic inch engine. Guys that were running 496 strokers back then used larger exhaust housings. Horsepower will depend on the combination of the entire package, including compression, cam, heads and exhaust. Banks used to advertise a 650 HP version with that larger intercooler kit bolted onto a marine LS6 (8.8-1 compression) crate engine. There are a few variables that could change that today, improved camshaft technology but less octane from pump gas.

I would say a "bypass" or "blow off" valve should be in there, but Roger knows that. I love it when the masters get itchy wrench fingers!

I have an after cooler just like that and a set of twin carbs with boxes and linkage. They are 850 demon blower carbs with spark arresters. I used that system for about seven years.
