    Default WTB Smokey Ram

I am interested in getting an "Old School" Smokey Ram manifold for a small block. Hit me up if you know where I can find one.

I ran a smoke ram copy with a single 4bbl top with a spread bore Holley and a Weiand with 2 afb's a 2 q-jets on top pf an Lt-1 motor.....Z-28 off read cam..last 3 '140' and a 30-30 duntov..375 hp 327...Bottom end was kind of soggy/cold blooded as hell but pulled hard past 4500. Ran it in a 3200 lb Willys station wagon with 4.11 gears and a muncie with 2.56 low gear. Ran a th 400 for a while..stock converter was a bad idea.
C.I. is your friend...I bet one on a 302 would be a pia in a car.. even a 383 c.i. would help with the bottom end power.
Might be a decent combo in a boat....bottom end hp isn't much of an issue..If you are looking for "different' you have found it..lol

I have seen them for sale at those prices as well, and a year from now they will still be for sale. I'll find one at a good price. Problem is they never really worked all that well, I'm not totally convinced that it will work for what I have in mind. If one shows up I'll grab it, if not there are other ways to go. Thanks.

Basically the Smokey Ram is a big ass empty box, or plenum. It was originally developed by Smokey Yunick and used in Trans Am racing. The top is removable so that the hold down bolts can be accessed, also because the top comes off there are several different lids available. There is a single 4V, a dual 4V, and I believe a Stromberg lid. Plus because the lid isn't very complicated making a custom one wouldn't be hard. I think a pair of 4412 500cfm 2V Holley's would make for a clean setup. They are out there, I just need to come across the right one.

If you look closely, note the "SY1" under "Edelbrock"

Smokey Yunick was a pretty smart guy.

Offy makes one that IMO works better and is still available for 525.
if you want something to toy with cheap, find a GM Cross Fire TBI manifold. They are cheaper than dirt, and the same general idea. Need a little messing with the top to take 2-2bbls, or 2 4bbls, or make a new top/or blank the openings and make a new single. For the price you can afford to throw it away.
Runners are longer than the Smokey, like the Offy, but you can shorten them if you think it would help. But in most cases, it helps.
I've seen them as cheap as 40.00 on Ebay
