Default BBC closed chamber 3917215 heads

This set of heads came off an engine that I rebuilt for a guy, after he was sold a "9.6-1 compression" engine that turned out to be more like 12-1 and burned some pistons after only a few hours use.

This is a date matching set of 3917215 casting GM closed chamber heads, period correct for a 68 Camaro or Corvette big block, 101 cc chambers. Might be better for a car guy, but also are ready to bolt on to an engine to bump compression if desired. Bare castings are going for $500 on Ebay,, this set is complete with rocker studs and guide plates, looks like the springs are new from his previous build. Date codes are E 2 7 and E 12 7 $500 obo

I would offer $250 plus the ride to Havasu. No offense, I just know what else I've bought lately in the same vein.

These heads have less than 10 hours use before the engine had to come apart, with probably at least $400 or more put into them when the other place built the engine.

    Barry,
I'm interested, if I can find them a ride.... what would they do compression wise on a stock flattopped mid 80's shortblock? Do you know what he was running for cam (spring rate wise)?

I know the intake shrouding hurts flow some, but the compression bump should be worth it, IMHO. What say you?

Depending on which stock piston, and deck height, you may gain somewhere around 1.3 points of compression, so possibly from low 8's to mid 9's.

I don't know for sure, if I recall he had a flat tappet hydraulic. Easy enough to pull a spring and test,, they do appear to be new retainers, locks and springs.
