I have the Gibson too and love it, my brother got his used from craigslist but I wanted a valid warranty so I got it here. Gibson Exhaust 110002, or you can try one of the sponsors here on the forum, they are allways having sales/specials. Either way its a great exhaust system, sounds great, and very easy to install.

Are they still for sale? Do you think they'd be overkill for a stock 496HO?

Not at all. They are more directed towards blue motors, so they'll probably drop less HP on an H-O than the actual 496 versions.

The decision you have to make is - do you want the PERMANENT? I have the clamp-on ones new in the box in my engine bay. I bought them new when they first came out (2006 or so) and have NEVER put them on. But, if I ever do, I don't want them permanent.

I have had three different patrol boats directly behind me - both idling AND cruising - and they ended up going right on by me. So, it doesn't look like I'll need them at all. But, I have them if I need them.

yeah, I'm going deaf as it is and hate turning up the stereo to mind numbing levels when we're underway. I heard the Gibsons that are designed for the 496 and smaller motors don't dampen the noise all that much on the big blocks.
