Default Does anyone read the rules here???

What is with Franky bumping all the threads up with a ...??? The ****ing rules say ONCE a week, not just whenever you want to!!! Really sucks for the honest people here trying to sell their parts!!!

Hopefully a mod will step in and just lock the thread's like the others!!

    Hey Travis,
I'm thinking that's one of the reasons that they are going to a fee-based sales deal. Rightfully so IMO...Too many people making a living here circumventing the rules. Kinda sucks for the guy that just wants to sell something on here occasionally to get rid of something that's been sitting in the shop for years. There are too many here selling new boats, buy and turn boats, buy and strip boats and parts, etc and they bump them regularly....and often

Now get back to work on that motor

I see this forum, (the whole idea of the PB forum), as a boating enthusiast message board. Messages about events, gatherings, and just general boating BS. The "spam" sections are a bonus to the true boater trying to save a few bucks on new/unused, and used, parts and boating related pieces. IMO, a member here trying to assist that effort, and offering their parts/pieces at a reduced cost are following that agenda. Those that try to get every dime out of the stuff they're no longer using should use e bay and allow competitive bidding from the general public. This space should not allow e bay links, as that is not in the spirit of the above agenda. I am un aware of the person mentioned as far as "bumping" stuff to the top, and I'm sure the Mods will catch it sooner or later....."Buy and turn" has it's limits, but at the same time if the "turner" boat is priced right I see no problem there. A lot of the parts with the best prices, not to mention the hard to find stuff, comes from members buying a boat "out of a field" and parting them out to other members. I see that as a plus, not a minus. If you want a part for an older car, you hit the junkyards. As far as I know, there are no junkyards for boats.

I do list items for sale occasionally, and I also offer "turner" boats for FREE. I try to be more than fair when it comes to pricing, and am not trying to make a living from the spam sections. I have dealt with several members here both from the buyer, and the seller sides. Trades also have their values and can benefit both members. If we all try to remember the spirit of these spam sections and help others realize their "wet dreams", I feel we'll have a place to do it. Don't forget, it's almost spring time in the Rockies, and there are many boaters needing our help to complete their winter projects.

One more note about "selling". We MUST stand behind the items we sell. Simply stating "sold as is" is weak at best, and downright wrong to say the least. I stand behind anything I sell and will refund money if there is an unforeseen problem. Items sold as "unknown to me", and sold ridiculously cheap, have quite a bit of wiggle room as the buyer is fully aware of the "unknown" condition......

Lets all police ourselves and keep the Mod's job as simple as possible. If you see someone abusing the "bonus sections", PM them and remind them of the rules in a NICE manner.......Reminding them that these pages are in fact, a bonus.........Ray

I agree with both parties on this, yes a guy can make a living on here, but to have the bumps every other day is also wrong. I have put up things on here and had them on the next page in one day. I know, tough luck, but I do feel Twin Turbos pain. Just my two cents for whoever cares.

Guys, sorry to get you all mad. Did not intend it to bump up the guy, just wanted to let him know I see what he is doing since I am in the middle of being dorked by him, wanted to see how he responded and then give the rest heads up. VERY SORRY. I was actually going to PM you Turbo but tried this first, my bad. But idiot, really....calm down.

I frequent another board that has a "spam" section and they allow bumping every 3 days. It works VERY smoothly, and here's why. The mods do NOT allow posting to the thread by anyone other than the original poster (every 3 days) or to announce the item is sold.

Spam here is a joke.... people post "how ya been?" in a sale thread, or have their friends respond to bump it. I have no problem with a thread going a page or two deep if I know when I look at it that it's not a crap-filled bump.
I sent this suggestion to the powers that be, but never heard a word in response. Shocker....

PS- Another reason it works is questions about an item are handled in PMs exclusively.

Sloride sorry I did not see sooner if you sent. Idea may have good merit. We will discuss. Changes are coming to spam next week also which will still include a free option. Outline coming shortly. admin2
