    Default wtb: bbc pistons

gonna build my motor a bit (as soon as it goes).....would like to have everything ready to roll when it does.

so I want to pick up some pistons, want forged... my bore right now is 4.250. I can either bore it .030 or leave it virgin. right now I have cast pistons and Im pretty sure its a cast crank too.

How straight is the bore now? Using a hour glass bore with new pistons and rings is like not doing anything at all. I would strongly recommend a serious measurement of the bore at several depths to determine how straight it is. Any wear over .005 taper/hourglass is reason, IMO, to bore it .030 and start with a fresh surface for ring seal.....A quality shop can also make sure everything is squared up to crank centerline.....Ray

My last 427 had about 10-1 TRWs 30 over, what do you want? Crank? I have 60 over rods and pistons for 454 LS7 stuff. Everything cheap! Some sets may need one new piston. You live close to George Nordling, he also has BBC stuff, lots of big inches. What do you want? Only new, or good reusable stuff.

my old man has a steel crank for me so I am covered there, I am going to go .030 or .060 either is ok. I would like to stay about 10:1 or so, my heads are 101cc closed chamber ovals from a 427. I would consider good used if they are available. I will buy a new cam and lifters (not sure what cam yet), i would also be interested in a nice set of roller rockers also. used is ok.

You might try a new set of KB Icon forged pistons. They are very reasonable (read that cheaper than most others), and not a bad looking part from the ones I have seen and used.

I have a nice used rotating assembly, but see that you already have a steel crank.

    Default 427

6 good TRW forged pistons with 185 dome should give you your compression with closed chamber heads, I will get their number for you, I am sure you can buy two new ones. These have had very little use in a show car and one year in my boat racing 80mph. Have extra set of roller rockers, 7/16 big LS7 rods, new 30 over rings. Could make you a package deal. Wont have pictures until next weekend.
