Default WTB Polished Aggressor Diverter Nozzle

Anybody got one. I broke mine again. The previous fix didn't hold up too well, as I was warned, and some of the pieces are missing this time so I can't try to fix it again.

I have tried talking to Aggressor but don't get any response. I have also tried some of the Aggressor's vendors and they don't get any response either. I have heard that Aggressor has some that need to be finished but I can't get one.

If I can't find an Aggressor nozzle, I'll have to bite the bullet and replace it with a Place. Polished Place diverters are expen$$$ive.

Attached are some pictures of the nozzle and bracket from the previous break. The latest break looks pretty much the same.

The pump/diverter is 5 or 6 years old, so I doubt any warrantee. I have not hit anything or ran into anything with the pump so there was no previous contributing damage.

The first time it broke, about a month ago, I was just backing the boat off the trailer when it broke. I was launching by myself, which I usually don't do, and the trailer wasn't in the water quite enough so I gave it a some extra throttle, more than I usually do (maybe 4k rpms). The diverter may have been slightly up, I don't know for sure. It snapped and all of a sudden I was going forward into the bow stop. I thought the shifter cable had broke until I went back to look at it. I never expected to see the diverter hanging by the shifter cable.

This time, the motor was acting up, not wanting to run/idle. The boat was half off the trailer and my son was holding it to keep it from floating away while I was dealing with the motor. I started the motor and it was at about 1800 rpms or so in reverse running like crap. Again, I felt it fail all of a sudden and the boat started moving forward. I got out of it and the motor died. Luckily, my son wasn't hurt.

I have talked to several vendors and sent an email to Dave at Aggressor. Yesterday I got a reply from Dave. Nobody has a diverter nozzle. Dave has some that are still in the raw casting state and need machining/polished. I don't know if I can get one of those or not. If I can get one, I have no idea how much it would cost to machine/polish it for use...

as far as the ram goes you can get them from grainger, cheap! as far as Dave goes try and stay after him. all nozzles will fail eventually. I replaced mine on the race boat every three seasons as to not have a failure. think of the forces put on that casting! official texas measurement...a shit load! try Duane in Kansas he's on the boards here htp. he might be able to fix ya up he sells aggressor pumps and parts. brad

I think the are built to handle the stresses when pushing the boat around. I don't think they are built for much stress in reverse. When in reverse, there is the impact of the water on the bucket trying to pull the nozzle off the pump at the up/down joint. Then when the water exits through the openings in the bottom of the bucket it tries to lift the stern up adding more stress at the up/down nozzle joint. All this was just too much for this nozzle. It could be that the hydraulic check valve at the diverter pump couldn't take the pressure and let the nozzle snap up, adding more pressure on the up/down joint when the nozzle hit its upper limit of travel. Any combination of these forces could be the cause. I don't really know, I just know it broke in reverse at a relatively low RPM.

I talked to Dave this morning and to Duane yesterday morning. I have also talked to a couple of other venders about this. None of the vendors indicated they had any parts laying around that would work for me. Dave said he would look around to see if he had one in his shop ready for use. He did say he has some that are still in raw casting form. He also said he hasn't done anything with them for a year or more. This agrees with the responses I get from the vendors I have talked to.

If I can ont get a replacement nozzle, I will be forced to switch to Place. Place is very proud of the polished version of thier diverter. They are nearly twice the price of the white version. I don't really want to spend that much money right now. I will if I have to but the boss won't be happy about it.

    Unhappy

Still needing that Aggressor diverter nozzle. Doesn't have to be polished.

Could go for a polished/white place complete diverter if I don't find an aggressor nozzle. Boatless until this is fixed.
