If the box is original and never been opened up, flip it upsidedown and look at the midplate. There you will find the gear set ratio stamping.

ok I turned it over and it has a "1.09" on the center plate.
Also has 157MI on the case itself.

Also I turned the drive shaft one full turn and it went around once and stopped at two(2:00)

did it help???

That indicates that the box originally was set up with a set of 9's. Not sure on the rotation thingy as I'm not sure how that works. If the box is original, then it probably still has the 9's in it. Perfect for a quick lake/riverracer dealio....
My son's boat has a set of 9's in it as well and it was originally equiped with a small block.
