    Default Trailer Issues

When it rains it pours. After coming back from the river July 4 weekend I notice one of my new tires was bald. WTF Upon further review I see the bolt that holds the leaf springs in the middle was gone and the leafs shifted which lowered the fender onto the tire rubbing it bald. Lucky to find it at home instead of a blow out. Before this trip I replaced all of the wheel bearings and thought the trailer was going to be ok for a while. Thinking about new axles with everything that comes with or maybe a new trailer since it is a 74. Rest of the trailer is pretty sturdy.

Yesterday I decide to make the 600 mile round trip and go pick up my Cobra because there are a lot of little maintenance things I want to do including wheel bearings. Rolled out of bed at 5 am and I'm off. Too far into the trip I realize I forgot my tools & spare parts for anything that could happen. I always take them to the river with me and rarely need them. Oh well. 30 miles from home I feel the trailer yank back and I see the rear tire on my side is sideways . In Pasadena and freeway is packed. I take a look, wheel bearings gone, I tried truck tire iron to pull tire, nope. Highway pulls over as I've already decided its safer to drag this off the freeway and asks what I'm going to do. Off ramp is right in front of me and he clears a path. Call the wife and son to bring me my tools. Get it all off and this is the first trailer I've had that will drive on 1 tire. In the past I've had to chain up the axle to keep it from dragging. I ask my wife and son to stay behind me and watch to see if it will bounce low enough to scrape. We get on freeway that is stop and go then she drives past me, come on, listen to the words that are coming out of my mouth, I need your eyes behind me. She's gone, but a nice passer by points to the trailer as were out of traffic and I'm going 50mph, I look back and see the caliper dancing back and forth on the ground , I had tried to remove the bolts, but didn't have the right size allen.
Stupid me it simply slides off

The adventure is over and all is well. Have some work to do. Wife is good and naturally she offered me any sexual favors I might desire
