Do the math ...

# Thread: Do the math ...

1. ## Do the math ...

You spend enough time on the road you start thinking of the strangest things.
Like how long I have sat in the drivers seat of my current truck. It has about 155,000 miles on it and just to make it simple lets just say it was all at 60mph. That's ends up being 2583 hours. Divided by 24 hours equals almost 108 days sitting in the drivers seat.
Here is another. At 1750rpms the motor's crank will spin 105,000 an hour and after a 10 hour trip it will spin more then a million times.
If you take the 2583 hours and times it by 105,000 revolutions per hour my truck's crank has spun more then 271,215,000 times.

3. I spend many hours in the seat as well... but I'm only going 5.5 mph! But I do the same thing, and practice up on my common core math!

My ride now has auto steer navigation so it makes it even worse... Fixing to get a tablet and run it off my phone so I can bother y'all more.... or maybe mount a TV in the cab so I can keep up with the soaps.

4. It is 6.1 hours from Salt Lake City to Lake Powell Mart gas station on the Utah/Arizona border. That includes pee breaks. C'mon spring.

5. ## RPMs

Wow, 271 million revolutions!!!! Now stop to consider than a Top Fueler burns 8-11 gallons of fuel in under 4 seconds and only turns over about 370 times to travel 1000 feet and reach 320MPH+...
My truck has an engine hour meter so I can easily see how many hours I've been in the seat since new... Scarey...

6. The one that hit home with me is that on average our hearts beat over 100,000 times per day.....and it's not made of billet.

At 50 it's done that 1,825,000,000 times. All that math made my head hurt so I had a cocktail.
