Default LEO shoots a 20year old kid in Havau

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (AP) - A Lake Havasu City man is dead after being shot by police following a domestic dispute.
Police say officers were called to a home late Sunday night.
They say 20-year-old Devin Christopher Scott allegedly caused a disturbance at a home where his girlfriend, his 2-year-old daughter and his father were inside.
Police say Scott left the residence before officers arrived. He returned before midnight and allegedly broke windows and exterior lights, banged on doors and entered the home before barricading himself in a bedroom.
Scott's father called 911 and officers forced open the bedroom door to take Scott into custody.
Police say Scott was armed with a knife and aggressively approached officers before he was shot.
Scott was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Kingman police are investigating the shooting.

And of course it was a 'good shoot'
Could someone explain the mindset of an officer in this kind of situation? I have 3 buddy with me..some punk kid comes at me with a pocket knife can i just shoot him?

They took his dad to jail..the kid refused to respond when an officer tried to talk to him...hunt around for the videos

20 year old kid with a pocket knife causes a police officer to be in fear of his life..he don't need to be a officer. The cop had backup..should have had a vest on. Training on how to deal with people who don't want to cooperate, should have spent a fair share of time learning how to evaluate a situation..Add in a healthy dose of adrenaline...The offcer had plenty of time to think things through....back the f down..let things cool down..they already took his dad to jail...and it took LEO 9 hrs before they told him his kid 'didn't make it' All dad wanted was help dealing with the situation..help like that nobody needs or wants...

And on a slightly more humorous note..Chop Shop Randy is back in custody...Stupid "F" was on 7 years probation for...operation of a chop shop...and that is what his latest charges are....guess he did learn some kind of lesson..no boats this time...motorcycles and side by sides...equipment and things..including meth...
Lst time i saw him he flipped be sht about not backing up on this very website..tried to tell me that it was all a big mistake....ya randy..for sure.....
When he was charges last time he was a 2 time felon...figure out how he managed to slide on probation and time served last time.....thing he did like 10 years in prison already...what a fool....he has talent and skills..guess workin for a living was not his way of thinking....guess he had a lot of people stuff he had promise to work on..he had a buddys olds jet boat..all taken apart.../guess he got all the parts back. He had another gals all aluminum blower motor..guess it's still mia...he other boat had a blower motor too..it got stolen while Randy was workin in it..Another buddy found out where it was at..apple valley i think..went and just flat ass took it away from the pos who stole it....

Cops are taught expressly about someone with a knife approaching them and how there is a distance that if you let within they can stab and possibly kill you even if you shoot them. Sounds like they did exactly what they were trained to do. Kid kept coming, distance reached, shots fired to stop him.

To the OP you say "pocket knife". I'm sure that is meant to conjure up an image of a small (2 or 3") folding blade pen knife kids get when they are like 8. I carry a switch blade in my pocket. If I came at a cop with it, even without the blade out, he better be careful. Do you think the kid was approaching the cop and wanting to show him his whittling project? Or do you think he approached trying to intimidate the cop into backing off? Should they have left him there armed and mad at the occupants of the house? Who's fault would it have been had the cops left him be and he hurt someone after they left? And just because the cop was probably wearing a vest, doesn't mean any knife can't be fatal. A nicked artery can be quite fatal and very quickly.

But the investigation results will be out and I'm betting it's ruled a good shoot.

Edit: My views don't mean I don't feel for the family and friends of the man that was killed. It's always hard to loose someone regardless of who was right or not.

And now I know how at least one Hillary voter....

The blade on my pocket knife is 2.75 inches long, you are willing to chance a punk sticking that in your neck?

A little game for you mister bad ass.... give one of your buddies a fork you put your fist in your pocket with your finger out like a gun. Stand bedroom distance from your buddy... at his will let him attack you, more times than not he will stab you before you get you hand out of you pocket and shoot him... well normal people not Rambo Ninjas like you.

Kill or be killed... No question if someone is coming at you with a knife and you have a gun to protect you and the lives of others, you put him or her down. Period... Because their plan is to put you down. " I'd rather be judged by 12 then be carried by 6"
