I know this is not a boat, but there are more than a few motor heads on here that might enjoy this.
This car is a 1964 Kent fuller and it ran a large mopar b motor on fuel back in the day.
One of my buddies found the car in Cali and it was being ran as a nostalgia Jr Fueler. He asked If I would be interested in helping him restore it to its original configuration and of course I was.The car took about five years to complete due to various reasons and also it was never a priority.
We just stayed after when we could and it is finished now. So as we go along I will be adding pics and commentary.
First thing we did was strip the car and put the roll cage back as it would have been in the sixties. then we painted it and re-laced the front wheels
I dont know if you can tell from the picture, but it still had the Mickey Thompson magnesium olds rear end in it. Kool
We found a 413 out of a motorhome and built an engine, not what I call a race engine. But it has a big flat tappet cam and aluminum heads. The Hliborns had been sitting on the shelf for years, lucky because they are hard to find, and as you can see the magneto.
This will be a cacklefest car and after running it last weekend on 60% nitro I'll say she sounded pretty pissed off.
VERY cool old dragster! Please post up a pic of it smokin' the tires when it running at the track.
That engine looks just like the one I saw when at Andy DeMent's shop a few months ago while picking up some Casale gears. He's had it for years and I guess it's going in a nostalgia style flat someday. I love DIFFERENT stuff! Jocko
Thanks,I love different stuff also and different ways of doing things.Thats what I always liked about Bonneville.
I'am very sure that the car can take the tires away, but it is not legal anywhere now.Another thing is since the early 90s when I drove a front engine nostalgia jr fueler the cars seemed to have gotten tighter if you know what I mean.
So we got to Torquefest in Dubdque IA and got set up.This is a static set up for us.
What a neat event they have a dirt track, people can run their cars and bikes on.But only vehicles that are mid 60s or older. They had chain races, mini bikes and dirt drags which I helped run. Swap meet, pin up girls, camping, bands well you get the Idea.Something was going on all the time.
We had a pinstriper do some work on the car while there.Every now and then my buddy would sit a young kid in the car and their parents would take pictures.A few girls in period dress and make-up stopped by.
Next time out we will fire up the car at the NHRA Hot Rod reunion and cacklefest in Bowling Green KY on Fathersday. If anyone happens to be there, stop by and say HI
