I always wanted the 25'th anniversary Lambo > the white one with the white wheels, tubed out fender flairs, front/rear wing and ground effects.
I know it's not the baddest Lambo ever but, it always caught my eye. devil
The countach reached the pinacle when it had the giant safety bumpers front and rear...but after the first couple of years, they all qualify as Escapees from a J C Whitney catalog....plastic fender flairs on a $100,000 car that's hand made? Even the later Panteras have the body shaped to fit the wider tires. Altough it's not very refined, the Lamborgini Muira was the one I always drooled over.
Although I've never been a fan of the Countach, that engine is realy something...the basic design dates back the 1965....amazing sound! 60 minutes did a segment on it and the test driver took them for a ride on the highway over there...two lane road, lots of cars, lorries and double-decker buses. He'd wait for an opening, then rip thru the gears up to approx 150(Those buses go by quick!) and then down shift three times and slide in before a couple of vehicles passed, on coming.....WOW!

My buddy has the white anniversary Countach and a Diablo . Nothing other than F1 cars beat the sound of the 12 cyl Countach IMHO devil. It's one of the most uncomfortable cars to getting in or out but I'd put up with it if it was mine. Chiseled looks [ not my fave though ] and turn heads any time it's on the road . I'm planning on getting together in the spring with a few buddies to make a video for sound comparo between our cars .
Car has a nice red interior
and a nice engine the black car on the right is a 95 RT10 Hennessey Venom
It's a great event to go to and they generally have a showcase club / event every Saturday so it can change up from week to week but there are always the usuals. It's a great time to kick back and enjoy talking about cars.
The Muira is just perfect, in my eyes. The original Countach was pretty sharp, but never had the grace of the Muira. That Muira concept was great until you get to the front, which isn't too successful. When I was a kid (Long, long ago, in a ga-) my dentist had a Pantera, and would drive it to work every time I came in...if I wasn't such a little moron, I would of asked to go for a ride. I still think it's one of the best looking mid-engine cars, but the interior and suspension tuning kinda sucked.
CVXjet , my buddy with the Lambos has a DeTomaso also in pieces right now . I've also admired that car in the 70's when first saw one. There wasn't a car with wider tires on the road ,period. However ,looking at that car now , it's pretty crude in the interior and engine bay as well. Some Ferraris didn't have nice interiors either but they always had a sweet looking engine .
After watching that segment on the Countach, I needed a cigirette.....and I don't even smoke! A lot of the Italian supercars had poor interiors....Someone was talking about getting a chance to drive a 308....Legs scrunched up, arms stretched out and the steering wheel was at a 45* angle....most don't have a decent ventilation system, either. Although it gravels me to admit it, the NSX forced most exotic car manufactures to improve their cars, both interior and quality.
You guys want to see a really neat exotic car, check out the Alfa Romeo Stradale 33; Wild looking, tiny (39" high) and a 2 L V8 that turns 9000.....in 1967!

You can tell where the front end of the Dino came from ,besides the name Stradale .
Alfas are beautiful . Especially the Spider models from the 60's . Another friend of mine has a 58 Alfa Sprint that was raced at Westwood here in Vancouver. There're lots of alfas around here still. Italians built beautiful cars in the past , one of my fasvourite is the Lancia D 24 . Rare as a hen's teeth .I drive a 58 Healey occasionally to vintage races and shows for my friend here who has the Noble M400 .The Noble is one of the best little car as handling and performance goes per cu .
Can't beat American torque with wide tires and 57% rear weight distribution...I remember the first road test I payed attention too in Mechanix Illistrated...Tom McCall tested the Pantera and got a 0-30 of 1.6 seconds...0-60 in 5.1.....back then most 14 sec 1/4 cars were getting to 60 in 6.5 seconds...no traction.
I may get slammed for this, but I always thought that the Pantera looked better with the 5 mph bumpers....the front looked un-finished in euro trim, but w/ the 5mph bumper it looked like a wing from a supersonic fighter. Most cars then looked like they'd had a railroad tie stuck on the front.sphss
Can someone post up some pics...I'm computer illiterate
Ok, I'll try to post some pictures...The first shows the standard bumperettes reguired in europe....thye don't fit the shape of the fenders at all.
The rest of the pics are with the US reguired 5 mph bumper...fits the front end. I don't like it as much as I did before because we are now in a "short overhang" design phase, so it does look a little long, but at least it fits the front end design.
Not necessarily, suppose I feel the big chunky thump of a V8 is more fitting to a 1969 SS Chevelle (my first car) vs, the nasty, angry Hornet buzz of a V12 that just seems soooo right coming from the looks of a Lambo or Pantera devil
I would agree, but I like that the Pantera was a car that a normal paycheck could afford and, more importantly, afford to maintain....To keep the value up on a "inexpensive" Ferrari 308, you MUST have it tuned up by a certified Ferrari mechanic....usually, it only costs $5000.....and that tune up must be done at least once a year. The Pantera needs only a typical tune up that cost maybe $100, if you don't do it yourself.
