My wife and I are in Hayward for the week (Volvo Penta Training). Anything we need to "not miss"? Only have evenings available and dont have a boat here....or anyone we know.
Have you ever been to a Bennie Hanna's? There is a much better version of that style of restuarant in Fremont, just down the freeway, called Nijo Castle...excellent food and excellent show as they cook it in front of you. They have all three ways to dine, sushi bar, sitting on the floor, and cooking in front of you, which is called Teppan; Make sure you ask for the teppan room when you make reservations.
There isnt much to do in Hayward, I wouldn't hang out there not necessarly a nice area. Either go to San Jose or San Francisco you are very close to either one.
Ditto! At least for your wife's sake stay in a place West of the Freeway... Go into the city as the San Mateo Bridge (Hwy 92) is right there and puts you into South SF near the Airport and you can drive the 101N into the city or the 280N into the city.
One thing not to miss would be going down to Oakland and checking out Jack London Square, it's a short drive up the 880 N and you wont be disappointed. I wouldn't imagine it would be too crowded during the week.
A lot of history there, if your in to that sort of thing...
Another little known thing in San Jose is the Hayes Mansion Hotel, good food and better atmosphere....Make reservations if you can...bulb
Don't forget to go to Loards Ice Cream and have some desert.....devil
Very cool. Thanx fella's. Too late to change where we are staying, rough neighborhood but the motel seems nice enough and close to the training place. We will definitely get out to see some of this stuff. Thanx, Mel
