These shit bags want more money!!!!! What the 100K for 60 minutes of childs play is not enough??????? Yet alot of you watch and support them
Didn't you just make a post regarding this just with a different occupation, and you were on the opposite side....?
Someone get the bottle away from kilr, he's getting angry.
I could't agree more! To say many of these athelets EARNED their degree is just ridiculious. I see them as entertainers. Not role models, not leaders, not humanitarians. Obscenely paid, and way overvalued for their contributions to society. This puts them in the class of people more like Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan and so many other Hollywood pinhead millionaires. Explain to me how Sheen is worth 2 mill an episode, yet not too many are crying foul at his paycheck. How does an actor command millions of dollars to "play a roll" in a movie? Answer, they have something people are willing to pay for. Personally, I think we're are seeing the ceiling as to what people are willing to pay to be entertained. Fifty dolllars to take my wife to a mediocre movie is more than I'm willing to pay. 3-4 hundred dollars to take the family to a football game is more than I'm willing to pay. When everyone quits showing up, their pay scale will have to adjust accordingly. Pro sports is huge business and the athletes are the draw.
Great post and right on point across the board. Now as for your second post I would disagree completely but for the education commentary which I agree they really were given a honorary degree to put it diplomatically.
Your second post conclusion fails because of your oversight on one item. Television rights....that is where the money is... network, direct tv etc... I personally do not see the players as overpriced in the NFL quite the contrary they are underpaid considering the average expectancy in the league. In Sports Illustrated top 50 paid athletes the majority of them are basketball players.
The NFL football player faces injury daily from scrimmages to pre-season and is expected to play whether crippled or not. The comparison to movie stars is not in the same category completely different occupations actor vs. athletes. The actor can ply his/her craft for years not true of the NFL player.
Funny how everyone picks on the players and no commentary is made on the owners who are the real culprits and gluttons in the sport.
Let's see as a player I have a deal to play 15 games at X price then owners want 18 games and player is given nothing but now must play three more games. I can see why there is a break down in talks. The owners want it all....typical.
