    Default Storage unit question....

I have a question for anyone that might be keeping their boat and town vehicle (truck, SUV. etc.) in a storage unit at the river.

We currently rent a 40' X 13' storage unit that we keep our 28' v-bottom in. With diesel prices being what they are, I am thinking about keeping my tow vehicle (a 4-door, chevy 2500, short bed, diesel) in Havasu. I really don't want to rent a larger unit (price goes up $100.00 a month), but was wondering if anyone is storing the same type set-up in a storage unit of that size. I was thinking if I disconnected and angled the boat in the unit a little, I might be able to get the truck in also. Anyone already doing this?

    Thanks,
    B

I'm gonna guess you couldn't fit a smart car in there.

I have a 40' storage at the river, and my 21' cruiser would never fit in there with my truck )...but i have a crew cab long bed. The trailer measured just over 27' from tongue to rear of jet drive which leaves not a lot of room. Maybe go in 1/2's with someone on another unit just to keep your two trucks in?...or buy an old short wheel base beater like a 4x4 explorer or something to launch/retrieve?

I'm moving my boat out to the Islander storage unit from So Cal because they offer launch and retreive service so I don't even need a tow vehicle this year. Were just going to drive the wifes Camry Hybrid back and forth to town and have the storage unit launch the boat for us.

If you don't mind me asking, what to they charge a month and for the launching?

It wont fit.....Unit is 13' wide. Boat is roughly 8' wide on trailer, truck has to be at least 6' wide, that puts you over 14' wide no matter how ya slice it. I like your thinking though! Im also interested in the launching service, whats that runnin folks?

I know it won't fit lined up exactly side to side or end to end, but I was just trying to figure with my boat being a V-bottom, if I could squeeze it due to the front of the boat not being 8' wide...

    Brian,

You are going to need a 60' to make that work. My buddy has a 50' and it would fit a diesel pusher but his Suburban and 28' Bullet both don't fit. Good luck.
