Default I guess I have to pay even more for everyone elses kids now...... (prop 30)

I'm infuriated that I have to continually pay more more more for kids I dont have.

I fail to see whats fair about making a person with no kids pay more taxes and schooling dollars.

People with kids should shoulder these burdens and stop asking me to subsidize their biological need to wiggle upstream and spawn.

Im not anti family- I'm anti paying for a family that isn't mine.
Whats next ....an extra penalty for deciding not to have kids?

    grrrrrrr....

    Dave,
I agree that those of us without kids should not have to pay for someone else's kid's education. I don't mind helping anyone out, I do mind being asked to do the job for them because they are too lazy to do it themself. Since most schools are funded by property taxes, why can't they have a two tiered property tax. If you have children currently in public schcool you pay an extra X% on your property tax. If you don't have property that you pay tax on in the school district where your children go, then you should pay a flat tax of $Y to the schoold district where your children attend. It's not a fee, it's a tax. If your children are home schooled you should still pay the higher property tax to help offset the cost of the state supervision and licensing of the home school program.

It really can be very simple.

Agreed........Obvious trend here. I believe the 47% just crested the 50% mark. California is "DONE"!!

This is very true and with low income/immigrant segment of society having 10 babies at a time, the blue states will continue to grow. Those dependent on the government for everything in their daily lives. The SC justices appointed also will change our way of life for decades and generations to follow.

Anyone else seriously looking at alternative places in the world they may want to live and raise a family?

When I retire or have to close my business. Until then I will keep supporting my employees and customers. Haven't done much research but New Zealand maybe?

Do you agree with the tenet that an educated populace is more beneficial to society as a whole when compared to an uneducated populace?

That's urban myth. Case in point:

Ted Kaczynski- Undergraduate degreee from Harvard
PhD in Mathematics from University of Michigan

Scott Peterson- B.A in agricultural business from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

Mohamed Atta (09/11 hijacker) Degree in architecture-Cairo University

As a whole, educated people are more productive and help society more. But, if the education is flawed, then the society they are helping becomes flawed. If a child is taught math, 1 + 1 = 2. That is an absolute. The problem at hand is that somewhere they are teaching that 1 + 0 = 2 and therefore it would also be safe to say that 0 + 0 could also = 2. Our youth are being taught that rather than you do your share and I'll do mine and together we have something, they can let me do my share while they do nothing and that we will still come up with the same sum. So in theory if none of us do anything, we should still have the same something. Flawed education = flawed society. That is simple math that I'm sure you can understand.

Remember, schools educate in the core subjects. Values, which make people "more beneficial to society as a whole" are taught at home. Schools can't fix what is broken at home.

But it's education. It's for "the children".

This is a why a compulsory, socialist, public education system is wrong. It never ends well. Once the people get "free" stuff, they need more and more and more. I've been against it for many years. I personally think formative education should be COMPLETELY funded and handled at the local level. No Federal dept. of education. No ballot measures requiring someone on the other end of the state to pay for it. You have kids that need to go to school, YOU pay for it, not your neighbor.
