    Default 7 life sentences

WTF? So what do you think?

I think they should HANG the bastard. By a rope. Until dead. PUBLICLY!!! It is not like we don't have proof positive evidence.

How much money would that save? He's young and will live 40 more years at least!!!

Mental anguish for the families of the dead and injured affected knowing he was still breathing! They'll never Forget!

We've become weakened because of political correctness. How more to pass along a message that if you do bad things, bad things will happen to you? More than a public hanging? Put it on pay preview and give the proceeds to affected families. You know the sickos will watch it!!!

And how would this have an effect in a positive way?... Albeit primitive.... DO NOT DO THIS! YOU WILL HANG FROM A ROPE IF YOU DO!!! Now... they put you in for life... well fed, all medical expenses, housed, clothed, etc... All paid for with tax dollars.

And I am talking about Loughner.

While I support the death penalty and would welcome a return of gallows being built right outside courthouses, they say it is actually cheaper today to sentence someone to life in prison that jump through all the legal hoops to put that person to death.

Need to get rid of all the hoops!!! Quit treating these guys like they're guests. These guys think doing a few years in prison is an honor now. Go back to the chain gangs.
    More sheriffs like Sheriff Joe!!

You totally missed the point. The POINT, listen carefully, is a DETERRENT! If you ever saw my BigMama make me walk out to pick my own switch out of the weeping willow tree in her front yard... So she could whip my ass with it... Don't think THAT wasn't a lesson to my siblings of what line NOT to cross. I just think a hanging would reach some "crazy" people.... and some not so crazy people.

But we are more civilized that that, right? No. What we did back then worked. What we are doing does not. It's not the gun's, knife's, club's, or baseball's fault. It doesn't take an "Einstein" to figure that out. We need to back up!

Death sentence. Appeal. Bang. Pine box. Dirt nap. Game over. No elaborate humane treatment of scumbag murderers.
Death penalty is a joke, in CA anyway.

People who study that type of thing say the death penalty doesn't deter the type of person that would do a crime punishable by death from commiting that crime. Like I said, I support the death penalty and wish it would be carried out more often to rid society of criminals who I do not believe are capable of being rehabilitated.

It use to. It isn't a deterrent to some because they wouldn't care anyways do to lack of forethought before the crime. Others it's not a deterrent because they know that they'll probably be on death row for most of their life anyways. If you only give them one year for appeal, I'm sure that would change their mind a little. Those that it wouldn't, you wouldn't be supporting them for the rest of their life.
Funny thing is, those that are sitting on California's Death Row were against Prop 34 because it would take them off of death row and put them in general population.
