Thumbs down Speaking of racism: Obama’s inauguration reverend: All whites are going to hell

All white people are going to hell, longtime African-American civil rights advocate Rev. Joseph Lowery told an audience at a get-out-the-vote event held Oct. 27 in Georgia.

Lowery, who gave the benediction at the January 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama, told the audience of up to 300 African-Americans “that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell. Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was,” according to an Oct. 31 report in the Monroe County Reporter newspaper

Later he rescinded and said it was a "joke". I guess it was a racist joke? Funny I don't hear of any minorities complaining. You bunch of racists!

He's entitled to his opinion, just as you are. Does his opinion scare you?

It does me. About as much as if David Duke was to be invited to an inauguration at the request of a president. It shows the character of the individual. You are who you surround yourself with. BTW, how are your friends in the unemployment line?

What if it were MR and his preacher said, "All black people were going to hell."?

That would be different in his small little mind.

He would be entitled to his opinion as well. Saying someone has a right to their opinion doesn't mean you agree with that opinion. Picking a preacher like that IMO isn't the wisest choice, but I think there are bigger problems in our country to focus on than this.

Yes he would, but the liberal media (and you) would have a field day with it. It would be headlines in every newspaper. And you know they (and you) would all condemn him for it. Double standard!!!

Typical fucking liberal. If a whate person said that about a black people, this would not be your response just like when you called Tommy a racist. You are the exact kind of person with the exact kind of mentality that creates racism and keeps it going strong.
If you voted for Obama to prove you were not racist, then you better find someone else to vote for to prove your not stupid.

Well, you are right about one thing.
There ARE bigger problems. Namely people like YOU who promote this type of division, including racism, and elect those who also have the power to promote it for real.
