Unhappy I feel for you guys in Cali

I read that Jerry Brown signed three anti-hunting/gun bills in to law...

SB 1221 - Hunting ban (with dogs): Bans the hunting of bear and bobcats with dogs.
I assume this is a ban on airsoft BB guns:
SB 1351 - Local Regulation of Firearms: Authorizes LA country to enact and enforce and ordinance that is stricter than state law regarding the manufacture, sale, possession or use of any BB device, toy gun, replica or a firearm, or other device that is so similar in coloration and overall appearance to an existing firearm as to lead a reasonable person to perceive that the device is a firearm and that expels a projectile that is no more than 16 mm in diameter.
AB 1527 - Open Carry Ban (of unloaded long guns): Expands last year's ban on open carry of unloaded handguns to also include unloaded rifles and shotguns.
Cali is still going down hill!!!

Makes me feel good about living in Utah. Here you can own a fully automatic weapon is you get an AFT permit.

Lots of nice weapons here....Funny how murder and assaults are no where near that of those cities and states that have stringent gun control laws. Maybe a correlation?

Nobody in Kalifornia knew that open carry was allowed in the state until Obama became prez and the Tea Party Movement came to fruition. Hell. I've been a gun owner in this state since '96 and didn't know about open carry until about 2 years ago. It wasn't until these Tea Party fans started open carrying in large numbers at events that it became an issue. I blame them and nobody else for bringing an awareness to the issue and ulitmately it's ban. As far as hunting w/ dogs I could care less because I don't hunt. I am against hunting for sport...end of story...when it's for personal consumption, then fine. As far as bb guns go, I have mixed emotions. That's what I started out with when I was a kid. Unfortunately, many people have been injured by these things and too many car windows have been shattered because of irresponsible kids and parents that don't know how to raise them.

I think the BB gun issue has more to do with resembling a real gun?

So a right has been taken away and you blame the very ones that exercise their right?

So you don't care if some one else has a right taken away? Hunting with dogs is a very old tradition. Since this right has fallen, what does that open the door up for? I know they tried to outlaw hunting with lead... What's next? You give them an inch, next they'll want a mile.

Ever shot a 6mm airsoft gun? That is what the law really prohibits. So one kid shoots out a window, so no kids should have BB guns? I guess the pertains to pellet or air rifles too.

I find it ironic that some one with a screen name such as yours would be so passive on gun rights.

Actually, I don't think I'm all that passive on gun rights. Shooting is among one of my hobbies. I have a 1 yr. old son and I plan on teaching him all about guns and the 2nd when he gets older. As long as we're still allowed to own guns at that point. Right now what really concerns me is the talk of Sen. Diane Finestein and the assult weapons ban that she is currently writing. As it is, my (2) AR-15's are relegated to 10 rnd. magazines that can only be removed w/ the use of a tool.

I stand by what I said. I am against hunting for sport. Anyways, I don't think that there are not even enough hunters who actually hunt within the state to justify getting into a tizzy over this. All hunters I now go out of state to hunt.

The bb/pellet/air soft issue I'm on the fence about. I guess maybe because I live a little too close to parts of Los Angeles that resemble a 3rd world country and the thought of all those "anchor babies" with them worries me. I for one can't wait to teach my son how to shoot my bb/pellet gun in our yard. I look forward to spending hours plinking at cans with him.

Oh, and in regards to the open carry issue...I blame the Tea Party for that one. Knowing perfectly how hostile the state is to guns, they should've known better that to push the issue.

    Found this...

There is nothing sporting in shooting an exhausted bear clinging to a tree limb or a cornered bobcat. Hound hunting of bears is illegal in two-thirds of the United States.
California now joins the great majority of states that have abolished this inhumane and unnecessary practice.

Who the f'k hunts BOBCATS anyway...? Maybe Nugent can 'xplane...

You mainly hunt bear and bobcats for their pelt. The sport is the hunt as a whole- the breeding and training of the dogs, the chase, and finally the kill. You probably think hunting raccoon is non-sporting also. These are mostly people you can't relate to anyway. You know the bitter ones that cling to their guns, religion, and freedom.

That just tells me the majority of Californians are against American principles and freedoms. Seems they keep on making more stringent laws, both in controlling the populace through gun control and business through the EPA and CARB. Very sad if you ask me.

Been shooting air rifles for a while now. When you get ready to get one for your son, I would suggest the Remington NPSS (made in the USA). I have one in .177. It has the Nitro cylinder so it's pretty nice. I paired it up with BSA 3X9X40. It makes a deadly combo for squirrel and rabbit. Nice target shooter as well.

BTW I think the "BB" deal is for the airsoft, like I said. They look just like real weapons less the orange tip of the barrel. I have a GR-16, and it looks just like a M-16/AR-15. So they just look bad. Plastic BBs won't do much.
