Jet Daytona, I've been reading your posts for a while. Do you ever have anything positive or happy to say about anything? I hope you're not as miserable as you come across.

Do you view the direction that OUR country is headed with rose colored glasses?

I don't and our future is not bright, but bleak!

In case you missed Doc's post below, here is a prime example of the destruction of our nations fabric that you worthless liberals have implemented.

Hope your happy with the county's direction and what affect all this will have on future generations.

No welfare here. I pay lots and lots of taxes.

I view our current economic situation as better than it was in 2008, but still not great.

Excuse me..... Bush??? What does Bush have to do with what I said?? Is it the norm for the folks here to respond with rude nonsense??

Seems many here won't admit that they are better off than they were in 08, 9 or 10.

For the record, I did much better in 11 and 12 than in previous years.

You're one of the lucky few....Most businesses are down unless you supply government employees. That's the only segment that has increased.
    Our business is down considerably.

Best year for me since 2000 was 2007. 2008 was brutal, I lost about 42% of my business. 09' not as bad and 2010,11 was better, only 19% off of 2007. Tell me again what happened in 07'?
2012 dropped back about 5%. I'm hoping for the best in 2013, but preparing for some tuff times ahead.
This is what pisses me off the most about Obama, If his intentions were actually honorable and he had the the best interest of our country in his heart, we would be well down the road to a full economic recovery! Obama will always put politics and his agenda ahead of what's best for the country, and those of us that work have to pay the price for it. Hell our kids and their kids will be paying for it for years to come.

What type of work/business are you involved with? Honest question...
When I left Ventura County in late 08, I left because I wanted to be nearer the river and the race team located in BHC, Az.... I thought I could muster up enough "buying/selling/trading" boat and performance parts, and some engine building on a very low scale... It worked for a couple of years, and then abruptly died in early 2010. Intakes, heads, headers, cranks, v drive and jet parts, as well as complete assemblies just fell off the edge of the world as others "play money" dried up.... The "baller" boat companies also hit a brick wall, and several closed, some actually bellied up, or cut way back on both employees and inventory, a condition I think we still see today.... A very lucrative company, PAW, also closed virtually overnight because of the severe drop in demand for "toy" parts.... Large autoparts stores either closed, or merged/sold because of the drop in sales.. Very few people will do a tune up before they put bread on the table for their families.... You no longer see 3 or 4 real estate offices in a city block anymore, as it was through the 70s-90s. Large banks have had to merge to survive.... Las Vegas, and closer here, Laughlin saw revenue drop 30-40%, and the Laughlin workforce makes up a big portion of the "full time" BHC population. Barber shops, and beauty salons have also been hit hard, closing altogether, or cutting back to 3, 4 days a week.....Hell, even the BARS here in town have been affected, and some have closed down..... I realize there are some industries that have slowed, and recovered somewhat, but I can't think of a single "middle class" worker in my circle of friends that is doing better since obama took office, (more accurately, since the Dems took over the House and the Senate in 07)..and I KNOW of many that are in deep shit financially with no "hope" in sight for at least another 4 years.....
I'm pretty much stuck here now with 8lbs of shit in a 5 lb basket......
In 09, at 62, I opted to start collecting Social Security, and hoped to supplement my income here in the shop, frankly, that hasn't worked out so well......
