Visited my local guns shops yesterday, man what a scene. Was like a schoolbus dropped off a load of kids at the candy shop. Places were crowded. Out of stock on everything I was looking for. This was in 3 stores. All the store guys said it has been like this since the election.

Yes, my favorite store , which is small, was packed when I bought a new M4. Ten days later, when I picked it up, lines out the door. All bulk 5.56 ammo. is at best backordered.

Today the NRA calls for Armed Guards at schools....
Have you ever seen an open bank without an armed guard trained to use his weapon?
But, schools are a GUN FREE ZONE! Which is more valuable, our children or our money?

What kind of BS is this. There are plenty of banks without armed guards. What a crock of shit! I saw the NRA guy talk about this and thought what a fool. With his logic, there needs to be a cop at every child's house. How about one on every bus and of course one to escort each group to their homes. Washington is a disease.

With all due respect, No BS at all, I find this approach very logical and practical. (For the record, NOT a "crock of shit" as the majority of banks operating in Alabama post armed guards during banking hours, and it is the parents responsibility to protect the children at home, not the governments). In 1997 an Assistant Principal at a grade school in Pearl River, Miss. retrieved his 45 from his pick up truck and saved countless children's lives ....Do you consider this too a "Crock of Shit"?
The school's assistant principal, Joel Myrick, retrieved a .45 pistol from his truck and, spotting him near the parking lot, shouted for Woodham to stop. Woodham instead got into a his mother's car and tried to escape. Myrick, a US Army Reserve commander, detained Woodham until authorities arrived.[8][9]
With that said....What would be your answer? How do you purpose to protect the children from these heartless and armed lunatics?
And I am curious, do you have any children?

I think I can help clarify his point since he didn't break it down to the idiot proof level. There is no federal law making banks a gun free zone. Therefore, unless your particular state has a state law prohibiting weapons being carried inside a bank, you can. Yet thousands of banks hire private security, armed security usually, to protect the bank from armed robbers. Since the early 90s, school zones have been federally protected as no gun zones. So to further his point, how many schools do you see employing armed security guards?

You don't see armed whack jobs walking into police stations and just start shooting people. The reason is they know there are armed cops there. You don't hear about people walking into banks with armed guards and just start shooting up the place do you? What you hear about is some whack job walking into a school where nobody has a weapon and randomly shooting whomever they please until the guys with guns show up.

Even more simply; Gun laws don't protect people from bad guys with guns. It's other people with guns that protect us from law breakers with guns. This particular whack job killed someone, stole her legally owned and registered weapons, went to a school where there would be no armed opposition and started killing people until other people with guns showed up to stop him. So lets ban all semi-automatic weapons. All that does is stop someone who is law abiding from killing people with that weapon. Oh wait, law abiding citizens don't kill people unless thier lives are in danger. So gun laws don't stop anything. The shooter, broke the law to get weapons (murder), broke the law to gain access to the school (shot out a glass pannel), had a false ID (was it used to illegally purchase ammo?), stole a car, probably double parked and proceded to start shooting people who were protected by federal law which states there will be no firearms in a school zone.

All the gun control in the world doesn't protect the innocent from criminals and whack jobs that don't care if they break the law. If the government can't stop illegals and drugs from crossing the border, how do they think they prevent illegal weapons from entering the country? Now if and when they fix the border problems, then they can talk to me about the need to defend myself which is constitutionally protected and why I should give up some of those rights. In the mean time, I think they need to fix the law they enacted that does the exact opposite of what it was intended to do. School Zones as weapons free zones only means there is no opposition for criminals and whack jobs. I think recent events have proven that yet again. As my wife, a special needs preschool teacher, said, "why can't school officials be trained and every school maintain a gun safe that requires a fingerprint verification to open?" And if a school system doesn't want to do that, then they should be required to have armed security in every school building. If properly trained, armed security doesn't mean students must get used to seeing weapons in the school. Most properly trained personel don't flash thier weapons so the typical student wouldn't ever see a weapon in thier school.
