wow, I need to look into this. No very common for a POTUS to pardon felons when he has 4 years to go. Its pretty normal to be in the last days in office as your walking out the door. Like he told Putin, I will have more flexibilty after the election, OR better known has, more unquestioned power.

The one that cracks me up, is he pardons a guy convicted of possessing a firearm without a serial number (way illegal) and without registering it (probably lives in one of those anti-gun liberal cities). But tomorrow the POTUS will be right back out there screaming that we need more gun regulations.

That being aside, In a case as wierd as this, I would bet there is a smoking gun in this bunch somewhere. The queston is, which one or how many of these pardoned people, does Zero owe something to. What is their link to him and how did they get brought to his attention in the first place. Defiantely within his power as POTUS to pardon them, but it is one of the stangest things I've ever heard of.

I checked it out snoc. Not much there. He pardoned people that have either already served their time and he simply "erased" there record because they showed great remorse for the wrong doings, and what to get on with their lifes without the stigma of a felony, or they only recieved propationary sentences. I think he only commuted one nserved jail sentance. But its still early, and you know Jesse Jackson Jr is coming up shortly.
His pardon to application ratio is way low, but his actuall pardoning isn't. Specially for the start of a second term. I'm thinking the number of applications is due to his knowing way more felons than most POTUSs, and owes more to more people than most POTUSs. He probably needs to spread them out so that nobody sees that the list reads like Whos Who.

There are some interesting things that may not be much, but 2 of those people were co-conspirators in the same crime (conspiracy to counterfit designer goods) less than 50 miles from Springfield, IL, the state capitol, in the early 90s. They both have the same lawyer and alledgedly applied right at the end of Bush's term. The lawyer claims that since Bush didn't act on it, it just stays at the White House for the next president. Now right after the election Zero grants the pardon he could have granted any time in the last 4 years? I would love to audit the company's books and see who all they have done t-shirts ect. for. And who all they've made political donations to both as a business and personally. Hmmmmmm

    Good post.
I know a guy who had a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction in 1995, he is still married to that same woman, can't own a gun now, he'd like to go hunting. Needs a (state) pardon to do it.
I know another guy, veteran, federal conviction for having some automatic weapons 20 yrs ago. He'd like to hunt, he'd like to vote, he'd like to not have to explain that on every job application.
So far Obama apparently hasn't disgraced the process like Clinton did at the end.
