Than you go to school and learn a career. Minimum wage was never meant to be a lived on.

Where do you come up with this stuff?? No you aren't. Poverty line for an individual is $11,702 which is well below current minimum wage. There are 48 poverty thresholds. If they do have kids and add in legitimate welfare, still above poverty line. Family of 4 (2 kids) is $22,811. If I lost my job and was that poor, you bet your ass my wife wouldn't just be sitting around all day watching soaps. And if we were poor before the kids came along, I damn sure wouldn't be having kids I couldn't afford. If a family of 4 can't manage to make $11 an hour, minimum wage ain't the problem.

Bottom line is anyone who works full time can easily be above poverty line with current minimum wage. Raising the minimum wage doesn't help unemployed people below the poverty line. They have no job. And raising minimum wage will eliminate a lot of current jobs instead of creating any new ones.

Poverty line for those baby mommas spitting out 8 kids is $43,487. I guess we should raise minimum wage to $21 so they can get by too (with only 1 income mind you).

How is common sense lost on so many people.

    Watching TV.

ITs a common practice to consistently use the word "poverty" when speaking of the poor entitlement class. Shues answer exemplifies the mindset of most americans.

Without thinking, they believe that minimum wage is below poverty, and that the poor need more. There is no common sense anymore. we accept what we are told as fact.

My question is where the money to pay the new wage is going to come from? As if I dont already know...

    Good stuff.
Wages should be set by market forces. No need for govt. interference.

As usual, you have no fucking clue as to how the business world works. Every time your hero gets involved, it screws the very people he's trying to help, as well as business and the middle class. Go ahead and raise it to $10 and hour and watch how many people get laid off as well as how many businesses go out. You guys are so stupid when it comes to business, but when you have been sucking off the government tit your whole career, you'd never know. Minimum wage jobs are meant as entry level jobs, not a job you have well into your 30's. Unfortunately your hero has screwed up things so bad that that's all that available now.
I'm not sure if your hero is that stupid, or if he's really trying to bring the country to it's knee, but either way, that's where we're heading. You fools just have no clue as to what's happening.

Hmm, does it occur to you that govt. regs/costs make it less desirable to hire more people? Isn't govt. sending the wrong message to business?

Have you read your last two post??? Corp profits up and wages down or is it the last three quarters of wages are rising??? You just don't get it. Corp profits are up because Uncle Ben will not stop printing money which makes everything cost more which make wages look smaller. If business can't pass along the increases in cost of goods they manufacture I promise you they will close their doors and wages won't mean shit to the unemployed. But your hero wants it that way, while blaming anyone not agreeing with his agenda and get to the promised land where we all play on a level playing field. At least at one time in this country if you didn't like your wages nobody stopped you from looking somewhere else that would pay you more. But the biggest problem I see with most workers today is that they are Stuck On Stupid, and a raise is a right. Earn it baby, earn it...BBD

Just another Union. Telling us what we must pay for our help. Must supply them insurance. Pay their retirement, as in Social Security. That is a oxymoron if I ever heard one. Where does this end?
