    Default Cash For Clunkers...........

Ok, this govt program is to get old, low-mileager vehicles off the nations roadways and replace them with high-mileage "efficient" vehicles.

    Really?????

If you buy any of the following vehicles, you can get a CFC check worth $4,500.

Among the list of hybrids you can buy, rest the following, non-hybrids.
    A Hummer
    A F-250 Super Duty 351CID V8
    A Chevy 2500 Silverado 6L V8
    A Chevy 2500 Yukon 6L V8
    Dodge 2500 340cid V8

These are the 2009 vehicles to BUY and get a C4C check, not the trade in vehicles.

A Hummer is an economy vehicle (compared to a 1972 Winebago perhaps).
Where's all the BS you and I keep hearing about the evils of trucks and SUV's?

Those are all 3/4 ton trucks BTW, not small by any stretch of the imagination.

I'd love to post the whole list, but my internet service datastream is being flaky lately, for unknown reasons.
The forum main page opens in secconds, may take me 15 min. to open a section area, and another half hour to get a thread open.

Other web pages are hit/miss, some open, some open partly, some just load forever.
    Irritating me.
Having trouble locating the full list.

It's just another 3 billion dollar payoff to the unions that put that filthy bastard in office.

Yes along with a total waste of our hard earned money and the vehicles that are being scraped. I am in the scrap business and have read this program all 176 pages of it. I would like to know how many cars are bought with the original one billion that was allowed for this sickening waste. In the details of the programs description it was estimated that there is going to be close to two hundred thousand hours of government employee hours wraped up in this fiasco. If thats their estimate you could probably double or triple it and probably be closer to the exact hours. Thats not including several of the new committies and government departments that were added to design and oversee this program. No wonder this program is so wildly popular, taking my hard earned money giving it to someone else and growing the government, great, just what we need. Every day when I open my mail and see all aspects of my business going up instead of profits I want to scream. If there is another American Revolution I want to be part of it, Im sick of it all.

I saw this today on Fox news. They were vehicles that only got 16 MPG.

I thought to get the $4500 the vehicle you were buying had to get at least 10 MPG better than the one you were dumping. And to be eligible, the car you are turning in had to get no better than 18 MPG.

So who is doing the crunching of these vehicles??

First the dealer must drain the engine oil, then add 2 qts of sodium silicate water mixture, and run the engine until it seizes. Next the vehicle must be sent to a listed facility where it must be flattened or shredded. There are an awful lot of perfectly good vehicles and engines being destroyed. There are plenty of people that would love to be able to get some more use from these vehicles. Young peoples first cars, a working family trying to make it, winter cars what have you. Taking away from the used car dealers inventory that is already lean because of overseas buyers and the government restrictions imposed. I could go on and on. What a waste. Good for the environment or the economy how?

The disclosure that 55% of vehicles being purchased under the program are foreign makes -- mostly Japanese and South Korean brands -- could raising questions about whether the stimulus benefits American auto workers, or those in Asia.
