    Default 8 years later

Hearing the O speech this morning he said something about our country coming together that day and the days after.

I started to think about his comments and our fight with the guys on the left. The libs on the left abandoned their ideology, most did, during that time and joined with conservatives on the right to mobilize, fight and support the unexpected and war. For the record a strong National Security is a core conservative value The right did not abandoned their foundational core and pick up war protest signs and chant no war with their tie dyed shirts and Birkenstocks, the left moved toward the center or right.

I don't know of anyone making that connection that I have heard. Yet here we are 8 years to the day later and the left has moved back to the left picking up the liberal mantra and hating conservatives, filling our government with anti Americans and destroying this country's core with every appointment by the O administration and every piece of legislation coming out of congress. Now the Bush lied conspiracy mantra is even louder yet all of the major liberals from Clinton, Kerry, Murtha, Gore, Pelosi and Reid all stated exactly what the president had said at the time and had the same access to the same briefings and intelligence. . We are moving to a pre 9/11 state again with this leadership and the liberal population and it scare the hell out of me.

26 and the others I hope you read this and reflect back to where your guys were 8 years ago. Most of you were one with us in your support for this country and were angered by the attack and wanted to strike back and now you are gone. Covenant!

Point, is that conservative values are core values and not ideology that can be abandoned at a time in history because that ideology does not help, fix, prevent, that time in history or solve that time in history. There lies the difference between us, you are letting ideology drive your ill guided passion of hate towards you fellow Americans but yet you joined them for a brief time in history.

I told myself I was done with this site but it's like a drug! Donzi and the others, I don't hate you. I'm a moderate, left of center. I don't agree with everything on the left or everything on the right. After 9/11 it actually looked like this country came together, briefly. That's gone and it's been gone for at least 7 1/2 years. It was back to business as usual, one side against the other. I have never witnessed as much hate as is on this site. "Un-American", "Commie", "Nazi", "comrade", "socialist", "Marxists" and this one by TX75- Looking at that site for 5 minutes makes me want to line up a few thousand 'progressives' in front of a pre-dug trench in the desert and.... I like money and I don't like paying huge taxes on my income. I don't want to pay for others health care. I'm a capitalist but I have a great disdain for all those Wall Street POS who got rich off a lot of our backs. All the talk about the future of our kids and the debt burden is all valid. I have a 15 year old. I care about the financial realities she is going to suffer but I am also concerned about the air and water she's going to breathe and drink and her quality of life. It's not all about money for me. That's where I stood when I cast my vote. Does that make me un-American? The sad thing is that I feel I could meet any one of you at the lake or up the river and have a great time with you but the minute you found out my political stance you'd try to kick my ass! I support this country and would die for this country. I was angered by 9/11 but don't dare call me un-American because I think a little different than you.

I look at this forum quite a bit, and I don't see any "hate". Where have you seen hate on this forum? I occasionally see members posting anti-Obama cartoons and images. That means that they, like me, disagree with the way the man is running our country into the ground. Is that what you call hate? None of these have been in bad taste, and the primary topic here is boats.

I don't think I called anyone un-American in this quote/thread. I save that comment directly for a few and I am very direct on why I say it. What I did say was a comparison to liberal ideology to conservative core values and the difference that I see today as compared to 7 or 8 years ago.

My opinion as a whole, we have to protect our country first and foremost before we can address some of the liberal ideology ideas in anyway. The liberals tend to have it backwards. Let’s do our liberal tree hugging stuff and then everyone will like us and poof no more attacks no more terrorism. The world does not, has not and will never work that way, period. We have to be strong first provide a secure American way of life and then and only then I think that we can full address and look at some of the compassionate liberal plans and fully determine if that is the right way to go as a country together.

Donzi, I'm not trying to patronize you but thanks for a mature and thought provoking reply. I didn't mean to suggest this post directly called out un-Americans. But the sense I got from your post is, where and when did we lose the common ground. Reading this forum shows that there is true, hard core divide with petty name calling, accusations etc. that doesn't do anything but make the divide even bigger. I just see this divide as being too big and the overall picture has been lost, meaning doing or saying one thing to spite the other. Maybe Rex should have a Left and a Right forum! I know this is out of context but I don't think we're all tree huggers, I have plenty of fossil burning toys!!! And Texgo, if you think for one minute that there are not some hateful comments in here go back and read virtually every post, as I have from the last few weeks and I'm sure you will find a few. And no, I'm not going to copy and paste them all. This is also the Political forum, not the general boat forum.

    Donzi, Dos Equis will do!

Unfortunately the divide has grown much larger in this country. O was toughted as the great uniter. But that was just another of the liberal lies on the campaine trail. The truth was he was not a moderate but a far left wacko. and so he is also the great divider. Lot's of people tried to warn others all over the country who this man really was. A leftist who had ties to many radicals whom could never get security clearance work in any private sector business that worked for the government. A man who was, and is a racist. Do you really believe he never heard Rev. Wright talk racist slurs. Kinda funny to believe when the Rev. can't open his moputh without making a racist remark. And O showed his racist streak with the Cambridge incodent. Bill Ayers was a friend whom he dinied. But what are the odds you have contact with a radical who was one of th co founders of the weather underground and then have the other working for you now! throw Van Jones and the many other radical aquantances of his into the pot and what do you get? A radical President who hates America for what it is. Hates capitalism, hates free speech, hates white people, and hates democracy and free enterprise.

Now you look at those who voted and continue to support this man and you will see where the big divide and hate come from those of us who love this country for what it's roots and traditions are. Not someone who loves it for what kind of socialist big government establishment they wan't it to be.

Dude, get over it. Lefties ARE hated by some here.....and everywhere. Likely no more than conservatives are hated on some seditious lefty site.
The divide in this nation is vast....and the lefties made it that way during the Bush Administration. For 8 years your side.....a bunch of little pussies with big mouths did EVERYTHING under the sun to discredit and obstruct. Your punk comrades in the media made it perfectly clear that Bush and Republicans would NEVER get a fair shake. Despicable.
Perhaps if your side didn't play politics with our troops during a time of war, or play politics with our national security. Perhaps if lefties weren't backed by degenerate unions, lawyers, teachers, etc. Maybe if your side was even the slightest bit interested in PRESERVING, PROTECTING AND DEFENDING the Constitution AS IT WAS FUQQIN WRITTEN.....the absolute disgust and loathing could subside.
ALL your side cares about is it's power. Obtaining it, RETAINING it. Say anything to get elected, like 95% of Americans will get a TAX CUT!!!! Or "I won't have any lobbyists on my team".
I could go on and on about the treasonous actions of the left and why I despise them but it's pointless. I'm not trying to win anyone over and I couldn't care less what anyone thinks of me.
And YES, if I thought for one second that I could get away with it.....haha.

I will opine that the so called "divide" is a result of many losing touch with, or being unaware of this Countrys' brief history, and the manner in which it came to exist.
The quotes and thoughts we read from our founding Fathers and their "ideology" from that time are much more than just printed words. They are the basis of how and why this Country was created, and the price required to ensure it's existence.
As time goes by, we are loosing touch with that and "melding" into a Country that is searching for a different way of being. All the while, our blueprint remains in place, it just needs to be followed.

I agree that the divide has grown larger. However the name calling, accusations, etc are not a recent devlopement since the election ...for the last eight years many of the left resorted to these tactics wehn refering to the previous administration
