    Too true....

I read somewhere that the average savings was 313 gallons of fuel a year x 3 buck a gallon = $939 per car that's purchased in this program.

The government shelled out billions to keep the program running for which the average savings is $939 per car which equates to something in the range of 20 million barrels of oil, which happens to be what the US uses every day. So 20 million barrels cost tax payers 90 billion.

You'd be surprised at who actually has those stickers on their cars. Not the cash for clunkers people imo.

I read in wall street journal that of the 3 bill spent they estimated to rally close to 17 billion in sales, hourly wage, and increase in production. What they are going to do now that the program is finished to maintain sales is another question all together. Of the bail outs this one seemed to be the best thought out one aside from the lack of end game.

I still have the Obama/Biden campaign sticker on my 2006 Dodge dually. I get some upraised middle fingers sometimes, but a lot of thumbs-ups too. Obama carried Arlington Tx., the first time I can remember a Democrat winning this town in any race.

During the election, in my part of the country, the rarest car on the road was a Prius without an Obama sticker....
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Life is all about ass, you're either covering it, hauling it, laughing it off, kicking it, kissing it, busting it, trying to get a piece of it, or behaving like one.
