    Default Teachers, AND....

It's not only the teachers. They are in the spot light because they're causing the schools to close, and recruiting their students to join in the Capitol Building protest. They are using the kids, 1/2 of which have ZERO idea what this is all about. In addition, the police, fire, and city workers in general are all involved... I have a strong feeling Andy Stern and his SEIU crowd are balls deep in this. IMO.....(Pro sports players should have their salaries capped at what the best paid teacher in the country makes, IMO...Imagine going to a ball game for $5 cheap seats, or $10 best seats, with $1.25 beers!!!! Just IMO....)....Teachers earn their money no doubt, but with the union so strongly behind them their job performance can't be used as a salary guideline. THAT is horseshit....IMO

PS No lefties were insulted in this post, except Andy Stern, and he is more of a communist/socialist/new world order/one world order, bomb America's economy, than a lefty. SO, he doesn't count any more than Elmer Fudd, IMO.....

Teachers could earn more if they did away with the overabundance of administrators. How many vice principles does a school need?

And from what I see from my grandkids teachers is 50% incompetence. I'm amazed at the number of elementary and Jr high kids having to seek out tutors because teachers claim they don't have time or teachers with accents can't be understood because their english is so poor. My 7th grade granddaughter has math teacher from the Phillipines that has such a heavy accent, I can't understand her in normal conversation. Nice lady, but her students cannot learn what they can't understand. This is a problem that admin is having difficulty with.

Far too many folks have gone into teaching because it's often an easier degree. This is fact as I've had teachers tell me they went this route because other degrees were too much work. Way too many of these folks are bringing our education system down. We have good teachers but they can't overcome the imbalance of the bad ones, many of whom are protected by the unions.

The teachers in the Milwaukee Public School district which held and illegal job action today have an average salary and benefits package of $101,000. Slave wages right?

While paying nothing towards thier pension and nearly nothing for healthcare.
    For nine months work.
GUARANTEED income for life and will retire a full decade before I ever will.

All the while there are plenty of parochial schools with non union teachers that have as good or superior teaching skills.

My in-laws are saying the capital is being trashed.

They live less than 20 miles away.

Marble is being destroyed, trash is everywhere, mirrors and windows are being carved in.

Republican houses are being protested at while there banging on windows and who knows what else.

Yes. You build a school the size of a small city, then you need a bigshot to run it, and a couple assistant big shots.

We had a 'shortage" here, so we sent people to recruit teachers from the Philipines, and gave them signing bonuses. Now we are laying off teachers.

Anyone listen to any of the "teachers" being interviewed in the streets? They sound like idiots.

Heaven knows our union lackeys will disagree but this is a perfect example of the pendulum swinging too far! It's happened most everywhere with unions. They started off with a good cause and with the best of intentions but that is no longer the case. They recognized their unified strength and abuse it's power.

I say every teacher should be compensated based upon their students' scores - not what some union strike mandates they be paid.
OK, I can already hear some screaming about inner city schools and substandard students. Tell that to Ron Clark.

Maybe they should do what they are doing in Tucson right now. we have 2 High Schools that are underperforming. The school board voted to fire every person from the pricipal to the janitor. They said all may re apply for thier jobs but only 50% will be rehired. The other 50% of the jobs will be filled by newer and younger teachers.

They are fighting for "Rights" people

If our government said we all loose our "right to vote" I bet there would be a huge rally in washington including union and the private sector.
Um, there is no wage cut in the proposal that I have seen in any reports.
The money points are the 12.6% contribution to HC, and up to 50% matching on retirement, with the collective bargaining being the main protest.

The Governor is going after the unions, plain and simple.

Whether he is successful in THIS instance remains to be seen, but it will happen eventually.
There is no way around it.
Many industries and Gov. jobs are INGRAINED in a union workplace, I think the point will come where this will end. Not complete disbanding of unions mind you, but certainly the power they wield will have to be reigned in for any progress to be made?

They are not protesting for "rights". Those "rights" are an illusion, negotiated in the past with stacks of cash between the fat cats over 3 martini lunches, in a manner that both parties knew would not be sustainable.
