Default House Votes 228-192 to Ban Federal Funds for NPR Programming

Looks like NPR went a little too far with its stance to left.

Schiller basically blew it with her handling of Juan Williams.

It wasn't enough to just fire him, she tried to piss on the guy on his way out with her "shrink" comment.

I like NPR for the most part but that was a dumb move that outed them as a political arm.

I see that side of it for sure.

    2 questions...

Do you think Vivian Schiller played her cards smart?

Is it ok for a publicly funded entity to have a completely liberal staff and stance or should it be more balanced?

(like maybe have ONE conservative journalist/commentator on the staff?)

With NPR public funding gone a vacuum will be created. This vacuum will probably be filled with money pushing a total conservative / tea party bashing format similar to the total liberal bashing format on the conservative shows. Fortunately for this new format, the Tea Party antics and Republican hack politicians and personalities will provide them with lots of material. As America divides further, the frantic whoopin', hollerin', and mud slinging from both extremes is going to be fun to watch as 2012 rolls in.

Indeed, it was an inappropriate use of federal funds in the first place. Next we need to put an end to federally forced patronage of the arts and stop sending federal funds to the National Endowment of the Arts (it was created because it was not needed).
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Witchhunt my asse......It's called "cutting the fat". If NPR can't find private funding it isn't important enough to enough people to exist.

Knock off the politics and realize our govenment wasn't intended to provide anything more than the basics and has gone completely off track. Thus it was inevitable the time was gonna come to trim it back down to what it should have never been allowed to grow into.

The entitlement class doesn't spend real heavily for political donations.
Besides, they already have CBS, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, PBS and between them all they only have a half dozen faithful viewers.

EXXXXXXXXXXXACTLY... I listen to NPR and most of it's programming daily except when I am listening to other college stations for my MUSIC fix... I am always in the BS filter mode when listening to NPR, kind of like when watching NOVA on PBS...

YUP, right on the bullseye Tex, ONCE AGAIN CUTS MUST BE MADE, but the left will spin it for all it's worth... Unfortunately PBS is my favorite TV stations (9.1, 9.3, 9.4) and I have to listen to all of this BS about the big bad AXE MAN that is gonna cut their funding... End result will be that PBS will come out ahead when EVERYONE that enjoys the programming starts paying their fair share... Austin City Limits is one of my favorite PBS shows (along with the woodworking/home improvement shows)...

One of the shows I enjoy http://www.mclaughlin.com/

    Witch hunt.

"Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though" President Barack Obama.

Liberals just chose to ignore relevant information about the world they live in, and then call themselves sophisticated for having chosen to be more stupid than God made them.
