An economy in the tank, fuel going through the roof. This is exactly what "O" was hoping for to deflect the attention off the disaster onhis hands.

Just now on ABC World News they reported Exon-Mobil reported a profit of $379 Million this Quarter.

I have no problem with oil companies making big money. They still make a very small % on sales. It takes money to reinvest in very expensive equipment and oil discovery. But for God's sake let them pump when they have found. There are many factors driving up the price of gasoline and I don't consider oil company profits a major one. Most of the reasons are political. The price of gas is killing sectors of our economy (like the one I'm in for instance), the same happened in 2008. There are reasons for this way beyond oil company profits. Much of them political and speculation. It does not cost more today to physically pump a barrel of oil from the ground than it did a year ago. Simple math tells you there's much in play here.

The major problem with your O.K. with the Oil Companies is we give them major Freebies,Kickbacks, and Incentives for the searching and production of oil. with the profits they are making I have a serious problem with giving money away. They have numerous capped well in the U.S. that could be opened and productive in a matter of days. I know this for sure as my uncle who has 9 capped wells in Missoula Montana, that the EPA will not allow to uncap and begin producing again.

So why are you pissed at the oil companies and not the government? Government won't allow drilling and producing. Government gives whatever incentives. Government Government Government is all I see.

I will likely move this to PRF not that it is taking on a different direction than intended.

With all the political clout the oil companies have and their lobbys,I know they could help open these already productive oil fields, and one more issiue I have with Oil Companies, why have you NOT constructed a new Oil Refinery? There has not been one built in 40+ years,Trust me Mike I have no respect or confidence in our government,BUT the oil companies are on Cruise Control,Life is just fine.

You don't think they can not pad enough palms to do what is necessary for drilling here?

Osama is still dead and will be tomorrow and the next day too.

News is not like it was 40+ years ago when some old guy sat behind a desk and told us what went on in the world that day. Today it is all about drama with that cliffhanger just before commercial break to keep you watching. News anchors have become more of an actor and less of a journalist. As Don Henley said in the song Dirty Laundry “I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear”. Today you can pick a station that will give the news you want to hear, exactly the way you want it to sound. It’s not real news, just a primetime TV show fighting for viewership with all the other shows in its time slot; a reality show trying to attract the big money advertisers.

Dirty Laundry by Don Henley, released November 1982

I make my living off the evening news
Just give me something, something I can use
People love it when you lose, they love dirty laundry

Well, I could've been an actor, but I wound up here
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em all around

We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5
She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry

Can we film the operation? Is the head dead yet?
You know the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry

You don't really need to find out what's going on
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone, keep your dirty laundry

Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff, kick 'em all around

Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry

We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing
When it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king, give us dirty laundry

Do you just write whatever passes through your brain? Not trying to be a dick, but I'm amazed sometimes as to what you choose to contribute. If the oil companies had that much political pull do you think Shell would have just pissed away BILLIONS of dollars on drilling permits only to be told to piss off by the EPA.Shell's offshore air permit appeal rejected | Alaska Dispatch How much money was lost when all the rigs in the gulf were shut down and moved because of the drilling moratorium the current administration has in place, even after being told by a Federal court judge that the moratorium is illegal? I'm guessing you also missed to ALL STOP placed on a refinery I believe was proposed in Texas because a lizard lives there that might be on its way to endangered. I could go on and on but....really, you may want to try to stay a little more current with facts instead of just opinion.
