Default first Dui what a cock of s***

This judicial system is so screwed up its not even funny. Just found out that if your drunk and your getting a ride home from a friend that is sober its a violation of your probation, but its ok to be in a cab. What kind of assinine shit is that. So now that I have gotten my first Dui I am an alcoholic, I can't let a friend (sober) take me home, I have to put a breathalizer in my car cuz I'm never sober when I drive and to top it of I have to pay to go to a Dui class that dosent teach you shit. I love California..

You and your fellow California's voted your whole lives and put the politicians in place that put the California law's in place to make DUI's what it is.

If you don't like it, don't drink and drive.

Feel lucky. Some people who get DUI's loose their entire career and current job. At least you don't have to worry about that.

You're right, even if the punishment was $100,000 people would still be dumb enough to drink and drive so it should just be a slap on the wrists.

It has nothing to do with how dangerous it can be and how it puts responsible people on public roads in danger.

I am doin the time. Its funny when people say "then don't drink and drive" becauae if you drink you have Drinkin and drivin, just havent been caught. It is all about the $$$. Not sayin you shouldn't have to be punished, just sayin the punishments needs to be reasonable. I could understand a fine, take your licence for a month and real Dui class that is regulated, so actually learn something. Not AA and not taking your licence for 4 months and definaly not 3 years probation. We just need to come up with a better system. 60% of people get a second Dui. You know why? Cuz its 0 tolerence for 3 years. Meaning if I go to diner and have 1 beer a glass of wine and get pulled over on your way home. Boom another Dui. Something has to change.

If you have a class A license, .ooo. No drinky at all. Along with all sorts of other stuff. Back ground checks, mandatory drug test, physicals every two years. Ticket counts more on points, and fines are more. And I think no traffic school. Etc. So we don't drink at all, even one glass of wine or beer, when we know we have to drive. Sorry for your mis-hap.

So you can't have a designated driver take you home?
What kind of crap is that? Seems like the reponsible thing to do.

You fucked up, deal with it, and be thankful you live in California. In Arizona you would be in jail for 30 days minimum.

I've never "drinked" then "drived" in my life. I don't understand why it's so hard for some people not too plan ahead.

I read the frustration in what you write but you need to look at the spectrum of how this has evolved. In the past DUI was a joke.... people would do it..... cause collisions even kill people. Then groups formed such as MADD and INSURANCE companies mainly.... then the pendulum starting going the other way. This meant harsher penalties and fines even lengthy imprisonment. The insurance companies lobbied hard to stop this.... sorta pro-active legislative risk management.

I agree with you to a degree it has become a business for the state and all the collateral follow up class stuff really is pretending to go through the motions.

You must make the personal choice to protect yourself from the system or you will continue to face daily obstacles which just seem to have a domino affect.

Great post, when you have multiple licenses you are constantly vigilant. No drinky at all is right. Plus the financial side of it can devastate your life i.e..lose your job, license forget it you will be unemployed.

My understanding (from having Fd up myself) is you have to be in the back seat. If you are in the front you have to be able to take the wheel in case of some emergency. So if you are under the influence that's a major no no, at least if you are on probation. Not sure if this applies to people with no DUI arrest.
