I'm interested. Does it have 2 key ways cut in? If so why?

Default Yes. Same philosophy as a double keyed blower crank hub.

Can use a single key with it.

So I just dust this prop off and I take it to Gibbs propeller in Lake Havasu to have it magged before I put it on my boat, just to make sure it's ok. Sure enough he tells me it has a large crack at one of the keyways. He also tells me he's never seen one with 2. It also has cracks on each blade. It's not cool to sell something that could potentially hurt or kill someone and their family!

Kinda why I don't buy used props.

I've never been burned from buying anything of the boards until now. Kinda shitty that somebody would even try to sell a prop in this condition. Especially when he advertised it as "Sweet!"

Did you contact him to see about sending it back,, or has too much time elapsed? I saw the double keyway and figured there is strength lost by doing that, especially if you didn't have a double keyed shaft (does anyone really do that?)

I sent him a private message, but I haven't heard back. I understand that alot of time has passed since I bought it. It literally sat in my storage until my motor was finished. Now that my boat makes 1100hp I wanted to be sure I had it checked out before it went on the boat. If he wants to be stand up and refund my my cash then cool. If not...I'm sure karma will catch up with him sometime.

Have you tried the number listed in the thread? Or do you have the address he shipped it from? His profile says he hasn't been on since Feb. So maybe he doesn't know there was a problem. He's in central Iowa from the phone number and I might know someone in Iowa that could go tell him he has a msg. on the boards.
So many projects, so little time

I haven't tried the number and I do still have his address. For the $235 bucks I'm not gonna go thru that much trouble to track him down. Apparently he needed it more than I did. Lesson learned!

Based on personal experience with my race boat, it's probably a good idea to pull the rudder and prop once a year and have them examined. We used to be required to mag props once a year for ski racing, and I still broke two of them over the years, thankfully not racing. I also found cracks in a prop before it had a chance to be a problem, kept it for a souvenir in case I ever needed to have that one duplicated, as it was one of the good Kindsvaters

Hmmmm.....my two BRAND NEW props I offered you for the same price sound pretty good about now, huh? All you need to do is remove the new chrome so you can mag check them in the future. My offer still stands....$500 for TWO new props! Jocko

Your offer is a good deal, but they are not the size I'm looking for.
