Default 2017 ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals Presented by Nick Rose Insurance

The Southern California Speedboat Club is proud to announce

The 2017 ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals
    Presented by
    Nick Rose Insurance

    August 5 & 6, 2017 Long Beach Marine Stadium

Redondo Beach, California – June, 2017

Starting in 1946, the Southern California Speedboat Club (SCSC) has been conducting races at the “birthplace” of powerboat racing on the West Coast, Long Beach Marine Stadium. Once a year, in August, the Southern California Speedboat Club stages the annual ARP Long Beach Sprint National Championships Presented by Nick Rose Insurance for Sprint Boat racing featuring 12 classes of the fastest Flatbottom, V-Bottom, Tunnel & Jet Boats from around the nation competing for bragging rights, titles and their share of prize money.

The ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals is presented by Nick Rose Insurance & Ecology Auto Parts, Ahern Rentals, Sea-Tow, Amsoil, Hotboat.com, Hot Rods & Hobbies & Rex Marine. The real beneficiaries however, are the thousands of spectators who turn out to experience the best high powered boat racing in the world.

There will be eleven separate classes of boats competing, including the 140+ mph water pounding K Racing Runabouts (K Boats) led by 2016 champion Duff Dailey driving "El Cid" #999 for owner Mike Stock from Boise, ID. These 2,500+ horsepower blown alcohol flatbottoms are guaranteed to have the entire crowd at the waters edge to marvel at their awesome power and speed .
Just as old as the Southern California Speedboat Club, the Crackerbox class with their unique configuration of flatbottom boat with a driver and rider sitting behind the 314 cubic inch V8’s makes this class the perennial crowd favorite as they thrash their 15.5 foot length hulls around the course racing rail to rail with everyone holding on for dear life. The Unblown Flat class aka a combined Super Stock & Pro Stock Flatbottom class, capable of reaching speeds over 120 mph down the straights will see some tremendous competition with a group of seasoned veterans take on some great up and comers like the defending 2016 National Champion, Greg Duff, #1, driving for John Grijalva, San Clemente, CA will rematch with the overall champion Greg Shirley driving #741 for Danny Loveless, Payson, UT and Ty Newton driving the "Wild Child" #80 for David Rankin, Hacienda Heights, CA

Once again, National Championships titles will be up for grabs in all classes. The always favorite Grand Nationals will see the 2016 defending National Champion Heath Hiebert, #369 driving "Corn Fed" from Bellflower, CA against a great field of drivers including Eric Sperry, #24, Canyon Lake, CA who's been pushing his Rayson Craft to the front of the pack all season. From the first drop of the green flag to the checkered the GN’s are sure to keep the crowd on their feet. Comp Jets will be scheduled to race for their National Championships led by the "legend" Harold Bruce, Lake Havasu, AZ driving for Terry Valore as well as the the Sportsman Extreme (SE) Runabouts which showcases limited Cubic Inch (350) spec flatbottoms. 2016 Sportsman Extreme Long Beach Sprint Nationals and National Champion Duff Dailey, #40 Stewart, FL driving "Slo Poke" will defend against a large contingent of able challengers. GPS-100 will makes it's debut for a National Championship and the Classic Outboard Runabout & limited stock hydroplanes will also be on hand to showcase their classes and race for a national championship.

Once again in 2017 the ARP Long Beach Sprint Nationals will have race teams from all over the country descending on Marine Stadium. The 100 plus boat team armada is set to wow the Long Beach crowds.

There will also be a vendor midway that will feature everything from souvenirs to food and beverage booths as well as a beer garden and don’t miss the classic V-drive display where meticulously restored V-drives from the yesteryear of racing will be parked for all to enjoy. Bring your family and friends and share the legacy that is Southern California Speedboat Club Sprint Boat racing at Marine Stadium.

Gates open at 8:00 a.m. racing starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $20.00 per adult, $10/child (under 5 are free). Military with active I.D. are also free! Parking is $20.00/vehicle/day. Please note that RV Parking on the North Side of the Stadium Only. Hello Mr. Wallach,

When I talked to you on the phone recently and if I'm not mistaken, you had told me you run the GPS 100 class at Long Beach. I re-read your leading post on this thread and there isn't any mention of GPS 100. In that post you make statements about the "unblown flat" class and the "SE" class, but I didn't read anything about GPS 100. According to you a new driver can't compete in "unblown flat" but must start in SE or GPS 100 for at least 12 heat races and after that must get a signed approval from 3 current "unblown flat" drivers before competing in said class. The boat that I'm in the process of purchasing has a BBC already in it and I don't want to fool around with installing a SBC, period

I'm buying a Biesemeyer based solely on the idea that you were going to run the GPS 100 at both the Long Beach and Burley races. Do or will you have this class at these two events this year and next year? ...... (I realize this year's Burley show had been canceled because of unsafe river conditions).

If you exclude the GPS 100 from these two events for some reason then I'll have to withdraw my purchase of the B boat and pursue some other form of racing since these two events were basically the two we were counting on the most due to family members living in both of these areas; plus the fact that my immediate family and I were going to make a yearly extended vacation out of it at the same time.

With respect I thank you in advance for your timely answer.

I am interested in the the KRR, PS,SS Unblown class and would like to be there in time and do not want to miss them. Default Schedule

Practice starts at 9:00 am and runs to approx. 10:30 am
We should be doing opening ceremonies right after and 1st up is the UBF qualifiers then moving along into the rest of the classes. We don't publish the schedule as sometimes changes have to be made on race day and we're still finalizing things. The good news is all the classes you mentioned will be running a minimum of 3 times during each days event - Qualifier, LCQ and Main. Sunday are the National Championships.

    See ya at the stadium!
