if your using the console (c:\) window you will need to leave that open unless you chose during the question part to run as a service. If you want to change it to run as a service what I've done is this.

    1) Let it finish the current work unit
    2) Stop the console (ctrl-c)
    3) Go to the install directory and delete the client.cfg file
    4) Restart the program. You will now get all the questions again like the first setup. When it gets to start when windows starts, select YES. It should now run in the background without being on your taskbar.

You can also just install the gui install, IMO, same amount of work, and you can config anytime you want. Thats what I use on my std windows installs. On my quad core though I use the cmd smp one and run it on a seperate user acct and just switch out.

A quick search brought up one hit. Make sure you are a registered user.

I've had trouble with the Linux SMP client. You're supposed to use the "-smp" switch but it will keep core dumping when you do that. Also, it doesn't run well from script files. At least, not BASH script.

At the moment, I'm running the Linux SMP client (It's really just the version 6, beta 1) in non SMP mode and calling it directly from the command line ("./fah6"). That's the only way I can get it to work.

Oh I see. I'm staying with PBM unless/until the forum goes kaput also (hope it won't).

OK, I finally took the time to really look at the [email protected] software. It has been sitting on my computer erroring out for the last week or two. Found the problem...

If you have Windows Vista you need to run the program in Administrator mode. Go find the program in your programs folder. Right click on it, chose the compatibility tab and check the "Run as Administrator."

Good luck to everyone and please participate in this. Your aren't really doing anything with those extra processor cycles, so you might as well cure cancer.

The SMP Version of Vista is a pita at times too. LOL

I've setup 3 of them now so its not so bad, but the first one was pissing me off.

This took you a "week or two"? WTH? You are the "Admin". What a joke!

BTW, it took me two weeks as well. Vista = VIRUS! IMHO.

    Thank you for folding!
