Gday again. I managed to finally remove the shaft from the jet unit. Short of It.. impeller was/is stuck on the shaft at the keyway end as was the spline end of the drive shaft! Nightmare.

I ended up with a ratchet strap on the impeller end to a garage post and another strap to the drive shaft from the trailer hitch just to put some opposing pressure on for separating. A few convincing taps with a rubber mallet and it came apart thankfully after a whole days work!!

The seals were cactus. As expected.

But my question: my shaft does not have a mechanical seal or retaining circlip parts #24 and #25. These were not there at all. The shaft also has no cut/notch out for the retaining circlip #25 to sit it.

With out this, the bearing can not possibly be sealed imo? As there is Nothing stopping the seal housing #21 #22 #23 from sliding down the shaft towards the impellor

On the end of the shaft the bearings were also different to the diagram. #31 and #32 were not there. In place was a nylon long sleave bearing (sleave with internal rollers probably 60 to 70mm long one peice) which was also damaged.

Is it safe to say that this jet unit shaft has been modified and or machined at some point In it's life with non genuine parts just to make do at the time!?

I am considering an xlerator kit from Tom which should solve all of these problems but I am concerned it is beyond its use by date. The suction housing is fine as is the bearing cap.

I can't post pictures for some reason.

Just need some advice if anyone is in the know. Cheers. Phil
