Taking the old motor out and putting in a new blower motor. Got a Guardian front and rear motor mount and stringer feet similar to this Glenwood pictured. The front and rear motor mounts are "U" shaped around the stringer feet. What would it affect if I were to cut and trim the bottom of the motor mounts (cut the bottom of the "U" off, see the red crosshatch in the pic) only in the area of the feet? I think this would allow for easier installation of the motor. You still have 8 bolts holding the motor to the feet.
That might work fine for a lake boat with a 330 HP engine, but I'd recommend putting in a rail kit, or at least set them on rails if you make the cut. A blower motor bolted to the stringers is not a good way to go. I know someone will jump in and say I've had mine that way 10 years, and It will work for a while, but the wood will eventually get soft without the rail support. Not a good idea in my opinion.

X2 ,Duane is correct here not to mention that removing that "rib" along the base of that casting will compromise the inherent design and integrity of that syle mount If you intent on using a cast 4 pt mount and do not want to mount to rails there are other type 4pt cast 'rears' that have feet designed to lower the rear of the engine Tom
IMHO , your a little over the edge for that mount system , the majrity of Three point set ups were designed for quick simple "production installations" of low to moderate HP (like Duane indicated earlier) The rails and plates give needed support and strength to deal with the added power,torque and stress Tom
quite honestly , although a little spendy the rail kit is an easy install in and of itself, we do the "mock up" remove the whole set up, drill and reinstall
