May be a stupid question but does anyone know if the stock 455 Berkley pack-a-jet had a mounting bracket on the dipstick or if the tube itself had a compression fitting on it? Ive been doing some research for one and I keep coming across these compression fit tubes. any thoughts?
Im looking for a 455 dipstick tube with the bracket to mount to the exhaust. Or just the bracket if anyone has one. I can make one if it comes down to it but I was hoping not to. Let me know what you guys have.
Thanks in advance,
What dipstick is recommended for a 460 with an Armando's 10qt pan? With ~10qts in mine, my dipstick only shows oil on the tip of the stick. It'll only drop in one way also. Stock timing cover with dipstick at top.
I recently purchased a 1979 jet boat with a 454 it starts up and runs well, It never seems to get hot but late in the afternoon it did get steam coming out of the valve cover vents and out the dipstick tube. Brought it home and check compression one side is 125 125 125 130
the other side 130 110...
I'm new to the site. I have a 76 Hawaiian Jetboat with a 460. A month ago while out on the water I realized my oil pan was full of water so I pulled the motor thinking I had blown a headgasket but it turned out that corrosion had worn a hole in my timing chain cover. While I had the motor out I...
I get oil up the dipstick tube at high rpm. I have a 496 chevy (gen 4 stroked). It has a 10 qt pan. I have 8 in th pan and 1 in the filter. Below 3500 rpm it is good to go. If I run above that for a few min, I get oil coming up and out the dipstick tube. Any thoughts will be great!! Thanks in...
Okay, the summer is over and unlike you guys much further south my season is done.
It's time to preservice the sled now. :D
I need to know if a 455 Olds dipstick is reasonably easy to find or will another from a different block work?
I did a search but couldn't find anything.
I was checking the oil the other day and as I was pulling the dipstick out the tube broke off almost flush with the block.
There's no way to get it out with pliers.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
