I have run flexplates in the past with no problems but on this Sanger project we are running GM 572/720 HP motor. It is internally balanced. It came with a steel flywheel which obviouslyI don’t want to use. Should I go to an Aluminum Flywheel or would a good quality Flexplate be ok?

Swapping my olds 455 today, finding that the PTO that was on the flywheel of the old motor, doesn't fit the flexplate on the new motor. The flexplate is half the thickness or so at the bolt holes so the PTO doesn't mate up to it flush. Am I missing the obvious or is there another part when...

Looking at a 427 SBC fresh off the dyno and arrived at my door. Good numbers, 528 H/P 580 TQ. Unpacking and found they had installed an 18 to 20 lb flywheel instead of a flexplate? The old SBC had a flexplate, so I'm thinking that I might need to talk to the builder. But before I do that, for...

Does it matter if you run a flexplate or a flywheel? I know I’ve seen 'em both in flats and the motor that came with my boat had a flywheel. I’m finishing up the new motor and it sees like a flexplate would be lighter. Is there any rhyme or reason to one over the other? FYI: It’s just a...
