I see all these beautiful boats with shinny cav plates and hardware. What is the best way to make it all look good? I have called around here and the chromers don't want to do aluminium. I boat in the muddy Mississippi and it tarnishes all my nice polished stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

...for my 19' Spectra. Plates have 6" under transom and will be 8" on outside, 10" on inside. Will be using 6061 T6 with the grain parallel to keel. Just wondering if 1/4" will be "too" stiff and 3/16 might be better.

Have a questions for you pro's. I have a 72 Sanger True Flat with a 1 piece plate. I have heard it was good to split it and have 2 plates, is this true? If so how do you split it with the rudder hole not centered in the plate.
