Need some help from the professionals here. I just happen to have my rudder X-rayed and here is what it looks like. My question is this they way it was made or do I need a new one? There are some gaps that don't look good.

How do you get it perpendicular...straight...in the stuffing box? What's the trick? (Sorry...came out sideways...)

Anyone familiar with this old 1 1/8 box? Is there a seal kit for it or should I just replace it? It leaks about a gallon every 4 laps....only at speed. :confused:

Re-rigging and would like to off-set rudder. Which side for a LH prop? I will be upgrading to hydraulic steering also. This most likely will negate most torque feedback but I would still like to off-set to the best side. General ski/cruise... Thanks, HAP

I have a steel (it could be stainless steel, it's heavy) wedge rudder with 1" shaft and comes with stuffing box (I would replace the seal). I'm not sure what brand it is and the stainless or chrome is a little weathered but still in good condition. This could be for v-drive or flatbottom race...

Anyone know where I can find a replacement seal for, what I believe is, an old round flange Hall-Craft rudder stuffing box? It's a press-in style seal, not the lock ring kind. Already tried Glenwood. It's a National seal but I can't read the numbers.
